For your listening pleasure. The Battle Hymn of the Republic performed by The United States Army Field Band. Comforting in this time of chaos.

His truth is marching on.

In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea, With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me; As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free! While God is marching on.

You know how music conjures images and moods in your mind?

I had a lengthy post I was going to make, but I'll just shorten it. Because of a movie (I think) whenever I hear the Battle Hymn of the Republic I can't help but think of Dixie, and vice versa.

When it comes to musical composition and lyrics, the Battle Hymn is better, hands down.

But when it comes to the message of the song, I like Dixie better.

The message I get from the Battle Hymn is, "We're going to go out and kick somebody's ass because God wants us to." Perfectly understandable. It's a battle song, that's what you want soldiers to think.

Dixie, on the other hand, sounds more like, "Gee, I really like my home." I find that more relatable.

I'll go with a different patriotic song.

The United States Air Force Band, Home free, and Lee Greenwood.

Stryper - Battle Hymn of the Republic.

Not quite my ideology or country, but certainly my style of music.

Makes my hair stand to attention (well what's left of it), even without hairspray.

How wonderful!

Thank you for sharing.

I've never actually listened to the words until now, and I am moved by its beauty.
