Could heated talk over the dinner table become a HATE CRIME?

Ok, not sure this thread belongs in this forum but I can't find an appropriate one, therfore if it is in wrong forum, please do move it. It needs to be seen to be believed but it looks like we are certainly moving into another level of surviellance... this time in our own homes.

Yes, it's true apparently... some lawyers are seeking to listen in on our converstaions at home over the dinner table whilst we/you/us are eating together with our loved ones. 'WHAAAAAT? I hear you say... yes, it is true.

Hate talk in your home should be a potential crime, legal reformers will tell the Government. The Law Commission says the offence of stirring up division over race, religion or sexual orientation should extend to private dwellings. It means a dinner table conversation could lead to a police probe and a potential prison sentence. The proposal from the commission, headed by judges and lawyers, is in a 500-page consultation report on hate laws that will land on ministers’ desks next year. Free speech campaigners and MPs said the move was a mistake that would open the flood gates to more hate crime investigations, which have already risen to 100,000 a year. Harry Miller, a businessman, former policeman and founder of Fair Cop, which opposes hate crime rules, said: ‘If the private home law is adopted by Government, a comment over the dinner table about a huge range of people could lead to a prison sentence. ‘Human rights laws protecting privacy and family life would be in the bin. This is a neo-Marxist idea and will generate unfriendliness between different communities where there is none.’

Don't know bout you... but for me this would be a disaster and WTH do these Lawyers think they are?? Bloody el... we are alreayd being shut up from saying things just about everywhere else in Society and to not have an opinion or debate on anything.... mostly the left don't want us to have an opinion or debate on... now they want to take spying to the next level.

I could not find another source for this, other than the Daily Mail. It would help if someone could find this in another source. I take much of what comes from the Daily Mail with a tablespoon of salt.

I think most believe we are already highly monitored and that it goes way beyond just the cameras on our cell phones. It would be expected that they will continue to push for our complete control, and they have found a very seductive way in, as we cheerfully walk around gleefully holding our own leash.

I have long been warning about what I call the "technological straight jacket" which I believe is slowly being fastened securely around societies who claim to be a part of the "free world."

And WE are paying for it willingly-people have been led to believe that high tech devices are fun and add something good to our lives.That its super cool to have the latest Iphone/video app..
This is not the reality-ALL tech devices are primarily surveillance tools for the mega corps who are far more powerful than governments,and are not elected.They control and steer governments around the world.

Already,I have found myself biting my tongue when in the presence of listening devices(mobile phones/anything with a mic and wifi connection).
Because these devices are listening to our private conversations and making a digital "picture" of us.

Soon,with the backing of the law,our digital devices will act as our own private policeman which will warn,prosecute,fine and imprison those who dare to hold a difference of opinion-even in the "privacy" of their own homes.

I used to say that technology is creating a society which would look like a futuristic wet dream of dictators like Stalin/Mao/Hitler/Pol Pott.

Well,I was wrong-If spying on private coversations within homes becomes the norm,then we are WAY past the most evil dreams of those dictators.

Cell phones, tablets, smart tv's, all Amazon devices, any voice command device is already capturing everything you're saying. only a matter of time until they start labeling key words to investigate you on.

True about that ALEXA device... was the plan all along. Get people to buy and accept that device, next step to actually listen in on conversations (If they weren't doing it already via that device or something similar).

Also, this is another way for children to grass on their parents and friends as I'm sure children are being taught in schools to report on things they hear and see already.

You seen 'Equilibrium'? Probably a much more Dystopian Film than Minority Report actually. In fact it is.

You are correct-there is serious money being spent,science/psychology experts working tirelessly to find new ways companies and governments can tighten the noose around our necks.

Elysium is a good comparison indeed.
So is the Borg from star trek,or the Morlocks from "the time machine."

All describe freedom being taken away by the system,no room for free thinking.
The Morlocks are especially poignant IMO-as they have actually been regressed into a seperate species by those who rule and control them.

This would be a cherished acheivement by todays super controllers,and its not that far away from reality sadly.

Its not a loss leader for them-its just not used for what they say it is.Its a spying deveice,no question.

TPTB LOVE getting families to grass on each other and on our neighbors..Its one of the sickest forms of control tried and tested by all the very worst regimes.
Not only is it effective at making people "self police" but,more insidiously it permeates throughout society the idea that no one is to be trusted,even family.
The ULTIMATE form of "divide and conquer."

ANY country which does this is NOT a free country.
Including the UK,where our government are pushing this idea (to keep everyone healthy during the pandemic of course).

Even if you take religion out of it,I reckon most football fan banter across the UK would be classed as hate speech if this gets pushed forward.
Knowing how massivley disfunctional so many UK families are as well,I can see a situation where a family gathering at a restaurant(MAC D's probably) ends up with people getting dragged off to the cells over football/politics/religious disputes.
