Shall I illustrate my point?

One side of the family has already decided we will not be all getting together as we have five schools, a college student, a penitentiary worker, and at least one hospital worker all represented. It was decided that getting everyone together might be too many. However, we may have smaller gatherings within the smaller family units.

One the other side, my in-laws are heartily sick of not seeing anyone, so I can well imagine they will gather everyone they can because they know they're old and their time is limited. They figure God will take them when he takes them whether it be COVID or something else. They can't stay locked down forever waiting for someone else to tell them it's safe because they may die in the meantime.

And really, that's their choice to make. Who is the government to tell them they can't take that risk if they want to?

Newsom wants to get rid of more expensive (poorer) Senior Citizens. That's one reason why he (and gov Cuomo) are withholding the Covid-19 Virus from state citizens, after the FDA approves it.

www.dailymail.co.uk...

I think Newsom and Cuomo are more evil than Whitmer?

DO NOT CHALLENGE HER!!!

And for God's sake don't say her name three times.

This i from Faux Newz. And by #ucker. Do you believe it?

Here is a direct link to the actual guidelines, without requiring that they be 'reinterpreted' for you:

http s://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CID/DCDC/Pages/COVID-19/CDPH-Guidance-for-the-Prevention-of-COVID-19-Transmission-for-Gatherings-10-09.aspx

So unreasonable?

So? I presented the condensed version. It doesn't make it any less of a draconian overreach.

One might even say...'fascist.'

It was originally presented in point form and uses simple language. Yet you need it "condensed" for you?

LOL

Of course. How else could I bait you into commenting on American issues when literally no one gives a damn what you have to post.

Survival rates well above 98%, actually above 99% now.

Being "right wing" as you put it doesn't mean we "don't care", it means we're adult enough to decide amongst ourselves as a family what risks we will or won't.

Keep on believing that if it makes you feel better.

As I said it is about protecting the most vulnerable. You have obviously taken the decision that the 1 or 2% are not worth protecting, and that is your prerogative.

I have friends who have thought like this until they have lost a loved one or indeed contracted the disease.

Best of luck moving forward.

How does having babies out in the snow going to help?
How do you justify anyone telling you 3 hrs is bad 2 hours ok?
How can people not see what this is all about?
:cry

It's the same as saying that Walmart is safe but your local mom and pop is uniquely infectious.

Thank you for the link because it shows that the guidelines are actually more restrictive than OP suggested.

The singing and shouting restriction will not be lifted until morale improves.

It's an attack on anything and everything that brings joy to people. It's the only thing I can really think of at this point. It's a direct assault against every little thing that makes us free humans. The only thing I can ever see justifying these kinds of measures is if bodies were literally dropping in the streets with millions upon millions dead. That's the only type of # that could ever justify any of this #. It's just a massive slap in the face. They couldn't even #ing pick an actually scary disease. This #'s just mocking all of humanity at this point.

Yes.

We have Thanksgiving at my Father-in-Law's house. Have since my wife and I started dating in high school. Now there are more than just five of us, There are him (she passed a few years ago), my wife and I, her sister & hub, their two kids with their spouses and kids and our kids with their spouses. That's now seven families living in separate houses. I'll be damned if we're going to refuse to get together since we're all Covid-free. The entire state of California should give their governor a big single finger salute. Family is everything, we're no longer a society if we forego that aspect of our lives.

So, how would you deal with reducing COVID-19? What would you do if you were the governor in a state where there have been 17,626 deaths in 7 months attributed to the virus, and the death rate appears to be about to spike back up after the increase in the number of cases?

None of your family is likely to die of missing a get-together.

Okay, let me make my position more distinct.

I too have elderly parents and a very elderly mother-in-law, and I will ensure that they are with us at Christmas, despite what my Government tries to impose upon us. My mother-in Law feels the same way, she has led a long life and whatever happens, will happen. Until it actually happens.

Our Christmas gathering will be limited, way beyond what the Governor of California is suggesting. It will be sensible with all precautions being taken. But, the way some people feel about their liberties being trampled on is beyond sensible thinking. The more people you have at any gathering the more of a risk is being taken.

I have resigned myself to the fact that we will all eventually contract this disease, but I do not want to be the person that ends up passing it on to someone that will end up dying.

Avoid singing--What is there to sing about anymore?

That was "singing , chanting , and shouting" .
Potentially meaning "no religion" ?
Chanting was the dangerous word in that statement.

Fine.

Take what precautions you will and those that feel sensible to you and yours.

The big picture you are missing is LET OTHER FAMILIES DO THE SAME. I am very sorry if you don't like how others handle things. But it's not your place to say the government should step in and force others to do what you would have them do for their own good.

I don't understand why this is so hard for you lot to comprehend.

Thanks for sharing that clip. Last week, New York City police raided the home of a Jewish Rabbi, because he had more than 10 people praying in his living room. Was surprised to see that, considering how the NYC mayor insults the police so frequently.

What I don’t understand about your lot, is that taking precautions that suit your circumstances is seen as weak and cowardly.

It’s about being sensible in my opinion, which goes against your opinion and all of a sudden insults fly. I have seen a lot of this on ATS recently, and to be fair it has come from the Trump supporters more than any others.
