If you'd take more care to reading the OP's thoughts on the matter, you'd have seen that she -- and most likely anyone else responding -- are well
aware that supplements are a thing. It's the fact that this most recent change was just so conveniently made right after the idiotic Senator made a
big deal out of the term in order to score political points. Let's not pretend that it was an issue beforehand.
And therein lies the problem... supplements or changes to the dictionaries should not be made in response to any one incident... it should be based on
a consensus derived from a great many examples in real-life usage over a period of time. Not just out-of-the-blue because Democrats need to create
some feigned outrage over absolutely nothing in order to score some political points over their adversaries.
It's quite clearly obvious that whoever has the power to make the changes, are allowing their political biases influence their actions here... and for
something as important as our literal language... that should be a really big no no.
