I go walking every night with my dog. No street lights in Sedona. Been stalked by countless animals.

The cat chased the dude because of his overwhelming fear.

When I get stalked, I turn to where it’s coming from (even if I can’t see it) and charge with crazy!

Bobcats, coyotes, Javelina and cougars alike.

This might sound stupid, coming from someone who has never encountered a wild mountain lion before, but...
Let's say you realize you're being stalked by a mountain lion and you know you need to scare it away or else your life might be in danger.
I've wondered what would happen if, instead of yelling and waving your arms, you suddenly act like you're stalking it - remain completely motionless while staring at it, and whenever it looks away, quickly slink towards it and then freeze again. Maybe hide behind cover while doing so, but just enough that it can still clearly see you. Would the mountain lion recognize the predator behavior and get freaked out and leave?
What would happen in this scenario?

You need to make them fear harm, I don't know that stalking them would register. You want to illicit fear not curiuosity. Imo

Could try stepping on its tail. That always sends my cat running off at full speed.

Yesterday a bear was spotted in my area. Today, at 4am I saw all trash cans around my home spilled. It was still dark and my car was 2 blocks away.

Yesterday was bad, have other puppy in an ER vet an hour away. Bad, bad, constant and worsening seizures for 3 days even though she is on 3 pills a day for seizures. They’re doing a CAT scan today. My pup with the kidney disease isn’t eating, again. ☹️
