Part of that is the picture though. It's bigger and the perspective is different. You see most of Roosevelt standing against objects in the background.

Pence's photo is smaller against a blank background and you see less of him. He's also wearing a blue suit against that blue background.

OK, here's the question: think back to what you have seen of Mike Pence, specifically the photos that have been taken of him. If you had never heard of the man, and saw a typical photo of him, would you characterize him as a "big man"?

I know he's only 5'-10" tall. That's not what I am asking. I am asking what your initial impression from a typical photo would be if you had never seen him before. If I get the answers I am expecting to get I'll let everyone in on why I am asking.

I'll start. Yes, it seems a lot of his photos appear to be slightly tilted upwards, making him look taller. Maybe it's the way he stands. I was actually shocked when I found out he was under 6' tall.

I have seen him in person in Indiana, at a Butler University basketball event. He is a short man, IMHO, but then again, I am 6 foot 1 inch tall.

They can do a lot with photography ... I mean: most Hollywood actors / actresses are pretty short, but somehow look 'tall' in the movies, etc..

5-10?? That's my height. I thought he was over 6feet tall. Seriously. He looks like a really tall guy and well built.


Wonder if it just might be his persona, the look on his face, that stone jaw that makes him look way bigger than he is.

Not sure where you're headed with this, TRN, but I'll add one more thing.

The media and political handlers definitely do things to make people look different than they are. Some great examples are:

Obama - Man, the MSM did everything in their power to make him look like a giant of a man when, in fact, he is quite small.

Bob Dole - With the ever present pen in his disabled right hand / arm.

Rumsfeld - Framing everyone out of photos so there was no size comparison.

FDR - Never showing him in a wheelchair, always behind a desk or something.

And the list goes on

My initial thought of pence when I first learned about him that he must be an old jock or military. His poise commands respect. He looks like he still lifts weights to me too. As far as the height thing, I’m 5’7” so there is no difference to me between 5’10 and 6’. Trust me 5’10 is plenty tall. I still work out too and am built like pence but shorter and no one has ever made me feel small, though lesser men have tried.

OK, OK, I'll give you a hint... might actually make a thread on this later on.

Most people here know I am a student of prophesy... not just Biblical (although that forms my basis for verification), but other prophesies as well. One thing in particular caught my eye last night watching the debates, and the perception of a "big guy" (or more properly, "big man"... I just refreshed my memory) is in play with the events leading up to one specific, rather obscure prophesy.

The prophesy I am thinking of is not about Mike Pence per se, but if he could be interpreted from a photo as a "big man" it could help establish a timeline of events leading up to the prophesy.

Haha I would think that the statement would be borderline racist (by todays standards - full on racist). I'm pretty sure he was referring to her either wanting to be black or act black.

Yeah dude, he's like Tom Cruise.
Gotta get the camera angle right, or he looks like Bridget the Midget.

I never gave a thought to Pence's appearance until now. Actually I still don't though I did have the impression last night that his face was puffier than I recalled.

I suppose I never paid that much attention to him, always considering him a cardboard cut out of a man. A man who had reached his full potential as a non-threatening husband and an acolyte , a guy who could feel important passing around the collection plate at his church.

A man who found all his answers early in life and hence never asked himself any real questions again. A kind of guy who as other might wondered ''how did I ever get here?''. Always just chalked it up to it must be his God's will.

To me he seems quite content in being Trump's lackey. And that's his job anyway I guess, to keep the illusion going that this is a God fearing administration.

In order to run him against Roosevelt like that, you would need a better photo comparison I think, but honestly, I don't recall ever seeing Pence in a photo where I was struck by how big he seemed compared to those around him. That's why I say it if you are going to think of him as a big man, it likely depends as much on the force of his personality as his sheer physical presence.

Certainly, he dominated the debate that way in every way last night without seeming to be a looming physical presence. Notice that not even the press can talk about how he "bullied" Harris which would imply he was physically threatening. Instead, they're mad he "mansplained" which is more than he talked to her -- intellectually dominating.

Trump could be seen as a big man because he actually is and of course his personality is huge.
I wouldn’t use the word big to describe pence, though it applies.
Comey on the other hand, is massive-though he comes across weak-soft hands, limp handshake I bet.

What I would like to know is: where are the man's lips? Does he have lips? He always has them curved inward and it gives him this toothless-grandpa vibe.
