Oculus Quest 2

Im a little surprised no one has brought up a thread about the new quest... i guess this community isn't that big into VR yet.... but this might change that...



First off... its frickin white...



Thats right Alice.... no idea what they were thinking... i suppose its original, and its ugly... but thats just the outside

Inside we have the new snapdragon XR2 processor... which is pretty impressive for a mobile chip... 6g of Ram, which is up from the original 4g on the quest...

Its apparently lighter then the previous model... which is my biggest complaint with the quest which is a face breaker after a while...

the Quest 2 has a 1832×1920 resolution per eye, which is nearly 4k... this brings this new set to the top of the resolution charts even toping the Valve Index... which is huge... Only the Hp reverb G2 has a better screen! ( And the Cosmos, but that isn't even a competitor in the market)

Lets also keep in mind this is a mobile VR set... fully wireless which is fantastic in VR... but you can still plug it into a powerful computer to play any of the AAA titles... this won't be as good as your standard hardwired VR set, but apparently its still pretty good

In the past little while Oculus has been determined to get more people into VR, Thus they make their headsets pretty affordable...

the new quest 2 is apparently even cheaper then the original making it even easier to get into high quality VR without breaking the bank!

And since as i've said, this community doesn't seem very interested in VR yet... maybe this will change some minds

perhaps even turn some heads!!

I will be picking one up, and making a new account so i can bring two VR sets to my friends houses and play together instead of one person watching...

How about you guys & gals..... Xmas is only a few months away!!

they do require a FB account... but most people already have one anyways... and no doubt they collect data, but what internet social media site doesn't

Most people just don't realize how Good VR has become... its expensive too... but again, oculus has been making it much more affordable

Never once has someone said "not interested" after trying one of my sets...

Every single person says "i want/need this"... without exception

I want this and Omnidirectional treadmill but in black!

Reverb looks better, but hard to go past the price of the quest. Should arrive next week

Never tried vr before. So when I ordered quest 2 I was half expecting to be dissaponted. But arrived today and for first hour just kept on saying wow to myself. Very impressive hardware/software. Love my new vr home.

I tried it for the first time last week.
Placed my order this morning on best buys website for one.
The thing I don’t like about it is that you need a Facebook account?
That’s awful.
I said I would never have one, now it looks like it’s a requirement.
I’m not going to cancel the order, but I think it’s pretty absurd you need Fb account To run this.
Hopefully I don’t get the permanent for being a new account registering with the oculus.
I read that was a thing also.

I also ordered a 3rd party elite style head strap.
I read the oem one is garbage.
Paid $45 for that as opposed to close to $100 for the official oculus one.

Alyx is just so frickin good!!

Yeah i hate the fact that you need fb... but i still have it so not a big deal for me... but its not fair that they require people to use it...

Battery life is about 2 hours... i'd suggest you grab a battery pack... some use it to balance out the headset, others stick it in their pocket..

And i'd suggest building a pc if you know how... unfortunately thats the only way you can play Alyx...

Because I’m so new to this - I’ve been a console player since day one, is that battery pack any good?
Or do you recommend another?
As well, I bought the 3rd party strap.
Is there anything else I should get?

Sure that will work...

you should be good out of the box... but you might need that headstrap

I can't Fricken wait.
I keep checking the best buy website to see if for some reason my headset shipped early and I can expect it sooner lol.
Was at my friends place this morning playing squadrons and the walking dead.
That walking dead game is amazing. I think it's going to for sure be my first game purchase.
I loaded up my steam vr wish list with games that I want.
This is gonna get expensive!

Lmao!!

VR is coming to the every day person because of Oculus and their mobile platform... but VR has never been cheap LOL

I've spent well over 5k on my VR stuffs, games, hmds... i like toys

Bought "tales from the Galaxy's edge" last night... im not a huge starwars fan but it looks really good... and Vader Immortal is a wild experience as well.

I've been on the fence about getting The walking dead... $45 but i've heard its like 15 hours to complete the campaign, so it might be worth it... thing is compared to the Rift S version the quest game looks like a cartoon... so i've decided to get it... but im not sure which version i want!

Im all about the graphics and visuals, but i can take it with me to a friends house on the quest

What I really liked about the walking dead is when you plunge the knife or axe into a walker - you really need to swing that thing, or it will just bounce off.
Same with pulling the knife out of the walkers head - you need to jerk it.
I found by using my other hand to hold the walkers head, I was able to pull the knife out a lot easier.

Same with the fire axe.
You come down with a chop on that B.
Then yank on it to pull that bad boy loose.

See that makes me want to play S&S... i have Arazona sunshine, and its all guns...

Im not a big fan of gun play but realistic knife and axe zombie killin... i can get with that lol
