People rarely hesitate to argue about things they don't understand.

People need to realize that they can be totally committed to their own beliefs, yet tolerate those of others.

The greatest tyrannies are always perpetrated in the name of the noblest causes.

Petty, self-important people always have to be offended by something. They spend their lives being offended by someone or something.

People think in herds, and they go mad in herds, but they don't recover their senses in herds.

May I just observe that the Milton quotation about "mind being its own place" is put into the mouth of Satan, and Satan contradicts himself later in the poem by saying "Which way I go is Hell- myself AM Hell". In other words, the quoted statement is a self-deceiving lie. Don't depend on it.

wow amazing, thanks i havent seen that... imagine a leader that stood up and had those ideals and was ready to break the chains, i would cast my first ever vote to that guy. But its just money power and greed now, by the looks of it the media hasn't always been bad, now its infested with a virus and artists who say those words now are gone, Bob Marley, John Lennon and even tupac.

Dude am reading Alfred Bester and it's very similar.
Ian M Bank's Culture novels also have some killer quotes for this thread.

The story is about a shop which specialises in planting fantasy memories in a customer's mind, at his own request, so that he believes in the reality of the memory. The problem with the protagonist is that each time they try to plant a requested memory, they discover he has a pre-existing suppressed memory of something similar which actually did happen (and this messes up the operation). That is, up to and including the fantasy of being the small child who defeats an alien invasion of the earth by being so nice that they change their minds, which is the climax of the story. I haven't seen the film, but I suppose they mucked up the story as films usually do.
