When I say "bad kids", I'm talking about the kids that were constantly in trouble or on the verge of being in trouble. Maybe you were in special classes or constantly called to the principal's office. Or even the kid that would probably go to jail or even ended up there. Hopefully you got your crap together like I did. I was one of those kids.

I was thinking, "what possessed me to behave that way?"

I have some ideas, but not clearly. I came from a "good home", but I had a butthole mom. But I think it came more from the thrill and reward of it all. One of the first illegal things we did was my friends and I would stuff paper up inside a pay phone, so when someone's call didn't go through the quarter would never come out, it was behind the wad of paper. We would leave the wad there for a couple of days and come back, unclog the hole, and a bunch of change would come out. Sure I knew it was wrong, but hey, now I have money!

I'm not sure if I hung out with some brilliant children criminals, or we were just lucky, but we never got caught in any of our scams. This type of behavior started very early at about 8 or 9. It was never about bullying or being destructive. It was always about getting money or shoplifting.

It was just always an "idea". One of us would come up with something out of the blue and then we would just execute it. Lol. I dont know if it was the planning or the act. But it seemed too easy at times. And it was fun. I wanted to do criminal stuff more than school.

It's not like I was lashing out, or angry or on drugs. It was just fun. And money.

I did wind up dropping out of high school, but I immediately got my GED and High School Diploma (I know, weird huh?) at the local community college. Then I went to college. Got a degree, was in forensic science for almost 20 years. Now I run my own business.

Who else was bad or worse?

What made you do it?

I wasn't a bad kid at all when I look back on it. I was definitely a dumb tween though. Did alot of dumb # between 18 and 25 or so. I didn't land in jail or anything, just drank all the time and annoyed people that loved me (and some that didn't).

I suppose at worst I was a distracted kid. Probably capable of much more than I showed, but liked to dig in the dirt and look at the clouds and run crazy with my dog in the wheat fields and woods.

One question.

After being a klepto in your earlier years, and now owning your own biz — how do you feel about people stealing from you?

Karmas a beeeotch.

I wasn't a bad kid, but I was no angel. I was a nerd in high school back in the early seventies. I did get in some trouble but not like a lot of kids did, but I did have friends that kept getting in mischief, I would try to avoid doing the things they did, sometimes I just left and went home because I knew it would get me in trouble.

I learned how to work the system.

I learned it was better to always seem to be doing what they wanted me to. Once they trusted me, I could sometimes thwart that trust to do as I wanted. The fine balance lay in never abusing the trust so much that I blew it.

I ran the halls same as some other kids, but they always thought I was on a legit errand when I did. The trick was to never do it so often it looked suspicious.

I was a good child, an OK+ teenager and a so-so adult. I think there’s a trend.

I have always been a basically good person with rough edges. At the end of the day I care about people and want to be positive. I think I come off gruff and defensive simply because I am afraid of being hurt.

I was naughty.
I feel bad for the stealing I did. I worked in a restaurant at 15 and had a moped. LOL

The back door to the walk in cooler, was right by the back door of the restaurant.
A few 12 packs of beer may have come up missing while I worked there.
This was way before cameras where everywhere.

Does being a pyromaniac on probation count?

Maybe you were a victim of our society which denied you an opportunity to channel all that energy in a more positive way.

I declare you not guilty. Go and don't sin anymore.

I built a bomb with black powder and a mason jar. I cut the female end off an extension cord, frayed the wires inserted it in a hole in the lid and buried it about 3 foot in the ground. When I plugged in the cord it went BOOM! real good. Blew a small crater in front yard. I was around 8 or 9 at the time. My parents were not happy.

Everyone has some great stories. I did say we weren't very destructive, but there was a phase where we would make bombs with Gerber baby food jars and a charger for model rockets. We blew holes in the ground too. Lol.

Also, I stole boxes of condoms. I had so many condoms in my bottom draw. I stole them and my virgin ass didn't use a single one for 2 more years. Lol!!!
