So all of a sudden it’s ok for the private business to refuse service to people based on their own opinions and beliefs ?????

Imagine that! Can I refuse to bake a cake for reasons based on my own opinion or beliefs, or would that be illegal?

Masks - just, why?

I'm in an area where part of the businesses are under a county mandate and part of them are under the KC Mayor's mandate. The county mandate is more day by day, but the Mayor has gone clear to January. I expect that the County will loosen their restrictions as soon as they feel numbers are reasonable, and the Mayor will have a royal s-fit about it.

It seems to me that every one I know wear their masks more because of pear pressure than they do because they think they are helpful.

I feel the same way about pants.

That's why People of Walmart exists.

Have fun with that

Governor Dip# took that right for businesses to choose one way or the other away wholesale. Now THEY get fined for not enforcing, even if they flat out disagree with the mandate and truly would prefer to leave it to customers.

One of my neighbors called it a Disobedience Tax. Man, if he ain't right on the money there.

Time for each state's businesses to file a suit using Pennsylvania as precedent.

I exercise, and you are exempt from wearing one at exercise sessions ... provided you are socially distant. So I wear one in, take it off, get all hot and sweaty and do lots of heavy breathing with no mask ... then put it on to walk out the door and immediately take it off again.

Makes perfect sense, yes?🙄
Crazy times.

I do not go to stores that wont let me in without mask. I think Walmart a pet store and 1 grocery store here have it mandatory.

But it's all good, found stuff for the pets for half price on amazon but I do pay slightly more for my groceries now.

I will pay the extra and walmart can go suck it.

Maybe this sound be in rants.

Every single day I read stories about masks.
It usually goes something like this. Person/People doesn't believe in masks and refuses to wear one.

Here is where I have the problem. When they go to a PRIVATE business that requires one and refuse to ...
..............gasp.........why can't they just follow the rules, just do as they are told (where have we heard that before?)
It seems that statement only applies to certain portion of the population. How HARD is it to just have some respect?

Seriously, if you don't want to wear a mask don't, but I do believe private businesses have the right to make their own rules.

We often heard "You do You" but now that has turned into I want to do what I want wherever regardless of rules.
There are ways to get groceries and goods without going into a store. If you don't like their policy, don't shop there.

Just for the sake of argument what if I say I choose not to wear a mask because I am " protesting " .

I'm protesting Mask , and my form of protest is to purposefully not wear a mask in businesses that requires a mask .

is this not my right ? I mean it's not like I'm burning down the building ...I'm just not wearing a mask .

I don't see what the big deal is. It's just politics.

Yesterday in a convenience store with big signs saying Masks Required! There was one guy without one of about 10 people. He had his chin stuck up looking at everyone as if begging to be confronted. No one did. He checked out and left.

Masks aren't 100% but they do help. And it's idiots like that that could be asymptomatic carriers who infect someone vulnerable.

I bought a 3-pack of cotton masks (not 100% effective, I know) for a $1.99. It's not hard to slip one on when I go in a store.

Then the “someone vulnerable” should stay home. Why is 99% of the population having to rearrange their lives around the 1%?

People have to go shop for food and other necessities. Even if the vulnerable stay home, someone else has to go get these things and bring it to them.

ETA: it's a mask, I keep one in my pocket, it's on and off and it's soooo not a big deal...

You must be young, because you’re not thinking the whole thing through. It’s about much more than taking a mask off and on.

I wear a mask when I go out in a public place, I am a conservative and respect the rights of other people like most conservatives, other than far right people, do. I like it that the governor of Michigan mandated masks, it keeps things even, prevents arguing since it is the rule now when you go to the store. I wear one even at the outside market where we get our mostly local fruits and veggies, most people here wear masks there too, except some kids don't because there was not enough masks in the car and kids apparently don't have to wear them if they social distance outdoors, but they do stay away from other people. It is not bad here, most everyone wears masks. I may dislike a lot of what our governor has done, but agree with the masks in stores. Before she mandated it, it divided people, now everyone knows that they are supposed to wear a mask so they do not feel like a fool if they do. People were divided more on masks, but now everyone knows they have to wear one so the vast majority do and the ones that don't feel a little guilty because they are outcasts...radicals.

Mandating masks in one of the only things I totally agree with our governor on, but I do not think we need to mandate them Federally, all states should make their own rules for THEIR citizens based on risk assessment. Masks also lessen the transmission of other viruses and diseases, but also some people medically cannot wear a mask, they should be given a paper from their doctors to be excluded from wearing them. But remember, those people who cannot wear a mask also are more susceptable most times, our state also requires two one hour times for grocery stores to dedicate for high risk people. I am not high risk, but because of my age, I can shop at those times, over sixty five puts you into a higher risk catagory.

it is neither the store clerks' job to enforce the unconstitutional edicts of an authoritarian governor nor is it yours.

mind your own business and carry on with your life.

there is no human right to not get sick.

Having said that, do you REALLY think that this is a good road to go down? To be able to mandate what a person wears? Do you honestly think this won’t get abused by our crook leaders? Biden says he will make it a national mandate to wear a mask. Think about this, and think about it hard, because when they take freedoms away from us, we don’t get them back. And if you support this, down the road when it’s grown tentacles, you are partly to blame.

One more thing. You’re right- there are ways to get groceries and supplies without going into stores. So if you are afraid of people’s breathing, do that. Stay home. Get your groceries another way.

I suggest anyone totally afraid of peoples' breath adorn themselves with a heavy, thick burqa, and top it off with pro-fitted safety glasses over the eyes. It'll even reduce skin contact with outsider germs THAT much further. It's for the greater good, dontcha know?

HEY. Don’t give them any ideas, sister.

Here where i live it is mandatory that businesses comply with the ordinance or they can face stiff penalties. I hate wearing masks but hell i dont want to put anybody out of business or shut down or costs them fines. These businesses do not want to make people wear masks they HAVE to in order to be allowed to open or remain open whatever.

One business had their grand opening and basically stated on social media that they would not enforce the mask rule, well Karens got a hold of the local health unit and BAM! they got slapped with fines or whatever, not even sure they ever opened to be honest.

Fak i hate all this crap....what happened to this world?
