For those of you living under a rock; the Playstation 5 is being unveiled live in about 20 minutes. A lof of people, including me, are excited about this since the previous version, the Playstation 4, was released all the way back in 2013.

Honestly, I don't even understand why consoles even exist any more. They're essentially just a high powered general computer with locked down firmware and ecosystems.

Though I have to say

This right here is a pretty tempting reason to get a ps5.

Then again, i'm sure if I wait long enough, it'll end up on PC.

Wait, don't you have to already have some type of purchasing history with PS to even buy this thing? We do, but I won't be buying one anytime soon.

When consoles get to the point I can pick and chose each device in the system , I will buy one.
Till then ....

I've actually been considering jumping ship from my Xbox one X to PS5.

However, I love Xbox

I also read they have a pretty amazing payment plan for those who won't be able to ford the Series X $600 price.

$35 a month for 24 months plus all access for those two years.

For $399 I don´t think you´ll get a PC that could compete with the PS5 graphics performance etc. I prefer some games on PC, though, so I have both PC games and console games.

If you buy a PS 5 you´ll save $100 vs the new XBOX, worth considering.

I own both the PS4 and the Xbox and and the only thing I use the Xbox for is Xbox exclusives and video streaming.

The Xbox’s dashboard is insanely clogged up with ads and other bs that I’ve never shown interest in but Xbox sees fit to shove in my face anyway. And they bury your games somewhere in the menu under all the ads.

PlayStation on the other hand puts all my games in a neat line right there on the dashboard and almost all ads are restricted to the ps store.

After viewing them side by side the choice was pretty clear.

I gave up chasing computer upgrades years ago.
It was a never ending expense.

My Xbox 360 lasted a long time before the one came out and I figure the one will last me several more years.

Back in the 90s computers were so much better than consoles but today the consoles have excellent graphics.

Your right, the dashboard on the Xb is a piss off at the best of times.
I bought the Xbox one X at Christmas last year.
I still have the original box and Warrenty receipt.
So no doubt could sell it for $300 and get a good chunk taken off either console.

I'm watching this ps5 demo, and Resident Evil 8 looks pretty cool.
I'm a hardcore Silent Hill fan, so have been settling with R.E for these past years.

Yeah...but for the $400 I spent on my #ty laptop, I can play more games than I have time for, program my own games and other things, make music, do artwork, browse the web fully and access all sorts of interactive webapps and content.

Or for $400 I could play some slick looking video games and maybe watch some movies or something?

Xbox has two versions... 300, and 500.

If Rock* actually end up remastering rdr2 for ps5, like the rumours suggest, then I’ll be buying one as soon as they become available... I don’t even care how much they cost, tbh.

It won't have a Blu ray drive, and it will be less powerful.

I guess one does not need the drive anymore.

I think I am going to get both this xMas... I've been an Xbox guy though.

PC gaming seems too complicated. I need plug and play nowadays.

I think the game model is amazing for the PS5.

You bought the game on PS3 or PS4, now want it on next gen,
and they will upgrade your version to current gen for free.

I haven't heard if Xbox plans on doing anything like that.
