A mother of a three year old, who died of dehydration, pleaded guilty to manslaughter. The child was left alone in its crib for 33 hours when the mother decided to go latino dancing one night. The baby cried until it could no longer and was found face down two days later. The prosecution is seeking 12 years in prison. Meanwhile the defense is looking for a conditional sentence of two years house arrest and then three years probation.

A mother who partied the night away while her two-year-old girl died of dehydration deserves as many as 12 years in prison for her "unspeakably evil" crime, a judge has been told.

Adrianna Dasilva was left alone in a hot room, trapped in her crib for 33 hours crying out for her mother, Crown prosecutor David Wright said at her mother Clara's sentencing hearing yesterday.

The next day the baby was found face down, with temperatures reaching 35C in the Biggin Court apartment, near Eglinton and Victoria Park Aves.

"The crib became her jail cell and then her death cell. In my submission a jail cell is now appropriate for Ms Dasilva."

Wilkinson (her defense) suggested a conditional sentence of two years less a day — a form of strict house arrest — followed by three years probation. In the alternative, he suggested a jail sentence of 18 months to two years.

I cant beleive someone can be this irresponsible. Its bad enough that she left the child alone, but is now seeking two years house arrest! There is something horribly wrong with either our criminal justice laws or our dignity and human morals when a baby dies and the defense wants house arrest. I hope to god she gets the 18 years in prison.

It's just crazy...

There's no way you can understand why anyone would leave a small child alone for 2 days! Some people really shouldn't have children.

She deserves a hell of a lot more than house arrest

You have to ask yourself first why these sort of stories are becoming daily stories in the media. i'm not saying that they aren't terrible though.

This report is one in a long line of similar, horrendous atrocities. More and more people are doing ever more cruel and crazy things.

Something is obviously and HORRIBLY wrong. We need to find out what's going on, fast. Here are a few places to start.

* Mercury poisoning that's causing unborn babies to mutate, ruining Americans' health and making them stupid and mean - and driving up insurance and health care costs.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

* Epidemic CWD in the nation's cattle ranching regions - it's related to 'Mad Cow' and likely jumps back and forth between cattle, elk and deer. But only about 0.0003% of the nation's cattle are actually tested before hitting supermarket shelves. Right.

www.abovetopsecret.com...
www.abovetopsecret.com...

* The fact that 100 million Americans already are chronically debilitated from being bombarded with industrial contamination, chemical additives in food and other products, and new disease mutations that remain unacknowledged and unregulated.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

.......The list could go on for hundreds of pages.

Dealing with what's causing so many Americans to lose it requires putting fetuses, babies, children and people before profits.

People have always been doing cruel and intolerable things. The media is pushing it right now. And I ask myself for what purpose are they doing this?

Not meaning to dimish the tragedy of this story but the American media (can't speak for Canada) makes mountains out of molehills (stupid car chases and such) for ratings. People are getting stupider and stupider, reality tv is what is in, the media wants people to thrive off of raw emotion, not use their brains and think about what really is the news and to forget the issues that should really be paid attention to.

Its the defense's job to get the smallest sentence .

If they like it or not. They knew what they where signing up for.
I understand she let her child die, Maybe she didnt think she baby would die.

Yes - these things always have happened but they're happening more and more often. At the same time, there are huge epidemics of diseases that impact mental health and cognition. For example, 10 years ago, dementia patients made up about 3% of nursing home populations - now, we're looking at over 50% and rising. ...And these are people that have gotten so bad, they MUST be housed - the 'early stages' are not monitored.

In October 2004, the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) published a recommendation saying voters should take a "standardized mental competency test" - those who fail will lose their right to vote." ...The plan is afoot.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Also in the works:

A push for computerized health records:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

AND a move for mandatory mental health testing in schools:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

So we're talking systematic labelling with no prevention or treatment, computerized records and widespread loss of voting rights.

Edit to add bold.

I would hope that the reason for this is public awareness of such horrendous crimes. Anyone who has read any of my posts, knows how I feel about children, and child abuse. The absolute irresponsibility of some people is beyond my scope of comprehension.
Perhaps with more public awareness, there will be a decline of these atrocities. You are right, these things have gone on for a long time, however they have not had much pub. With more pub, and the stigma attached with it, maybe scum like this woman would think twice before leaving that innocent little child to die in a sweltering crib, while crying out for it's mommy. House arrest - no freakin' way. I think an eye for an eye is what is needed here - a day or two in a sweltering cage with no fluids or food, and no one to console her.

Yes soficrow becuase after all it cant be that some people are simply born with bad wirng, or that selfishness is and has always been one of our least recognised, yet most harmful weaknesses and we all know this kind of thing only happens in America.

Perhaps cutting off her feet would eliminate the problem! Sad but true...she wants to dance too much to have kids! I'm a single father of (3) so I can't understand this type of activity from any parent .

33 hours....she was doing more than a night out dancing....I can't understand this...my mind just isn't capable of grasping it. Lets hope drugs were involved somewhere.....at least that gives her not thinking due to an altered state of consciousness. Why such a light sentence......drug dealers get more time that that! This is in essence...murder...I don't get the judicial system at all! I like the cutting off her feet solution!

To turn people against themselves... or against womens and ethnic groups, probably?

WHile I recognize that this is an horrible act that this mother has perpetrated upon her own child, that article is poor into explaining the context of what actually happened, rather giving it to sensationalistic and racist/sexist perspective of the events.

Just think about it... They dont' say a word about why she did that, other than going to a LATINO dance party. This is just presenting her as somekind of totally irresponsible sex addict... Maybe that's what she is, but it's also possible that this women was just influence by some dominating, and even more irresponsible guys to go out that night, take drugs/alcohol and have sex the whole night. So she would have woken up the next day realizing that she forgot her baby at home.

Still this if terrible that media bring sit up into such a perverted fashion.

Very much agreed LadyV.

33 hours is a looong time. However I don't really care if drugs are part of this equation or not - she killed her baby. If you're going to go out, that's fine - as a parent we all do it occassionaly, however NEVER EVER EVER without a baby sitter. I can honestly say that my little son, has never, not once been unsupervised. Like you Lady, my mind just can't grasp this. A foot guillotine just might be in order here.

this just goes to show how popular latino dancing is. it also shows how dangerous it is and how we must move to destroy it. one life of a child is too much and the dancing must be banned.

Of course! I am not advocating differently! That's "one" reason I have my granddaughter instead of her mother (not my daughter)! I am saying at least if drugs are involved it's something other than total idiocy, stupidity.....one would like to think a mother wouldn't do such a thing in a normal state of mind....but sadly, we know they do

if the mother really had to go out for that long at least she could of left some water in a 5 gallon bucket for the kid. and maybe some chicken wings or some other foods with bones in them.

I would hope that the reason for this is (for).... public awareness of such horrendous crimes.

for the last several years there have been 2 or 3 incidents each summer
of infants- toddlers left in cars that died from the heat &/or dehydration...
Even with that sort of awareness put forth to the public, this woman
still found it needful to neglect/abandon the child for a day-and-a-half.

[....] maybe scum like this woman would think twice before leaving that innocent little child to die in a sweltering crib, while crying out for it's mommy. [...]

i think the woman was either incorrigible or uncaring along with unawares of proper conduct & responsibility in child rearing & motherhood.
How? was the fact of the toddler 'crying' for the 33 hour period established?
Maybe that type situation was not uncommon, maybe the neighbors turned
a deaf ear to the 'standard' crying...instead of investigating.
it's a sad fact that some people are not prepared for freedom or liberty,
some few people are candidates for constant supervision, observation, regulated lifestyles.

bringing justice for murder or manslaughter is for the court-jury-law.
preventing these tragedies is an individual and collective issue
