One tanker can drag 6 fighters, depending on type. So even if all three were dragging their max load, that's 21 total aircraft.

Not the full squadron. Maybe 12 aircraft maximum, more likely between 6 and 8. They're the Aggressor unit based in Alaska. They only deploy for exercises to play the bad guys.

The only thing I could find on the sirens in Albuquerque had to do with the university. Coincidentally, they test their sirens at the beginning of each semester and the planned day always seemed to be a Tuesday and right around 11 am.
Idk if classes had been pushed back for the Rona or what but maybe that's what they were? Were you around the campus?

I'm in UNMH Trauma, so yes. But testing for over 15 minutes

True. And I'd think that if you were there, you'd have been made aware of them testing today. I couldn't find any article about the sirens today but plenty that gave a heads up about previous tests.

And if it were something other than just a test, you'd think there'd be a news article about what was going on. Definitely perplexing

The 18th Aggressor Squadron is part of the 354th Fighter Wing, based at Eielson AFB. They fly Block 30 F-16s, painted in various color schemes that replicate potential adversaries. They're the Aggressor unit for PACAF, and have traveled all over the region for various exercises. They were a combat unit until the 2003-2004 timeframe, when they went from the 18th Fighter Squadron, to the 18th Aggressor Squadron.

That's the squadron I'd wanna be part of. I have too much of a conscience to be a bad guy for real but it'd sure be fun to play one in the air!

I take offense to your comment, "I'd think that if you were there, you'd have been made aware of them testing today."
I was there today, and I'll be there tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day... No body was aware, and it caught us all off guard. No emails, no TV/Radio announcements.
Enjoy your evening.

I'll have to dig out the pics on my phone, but I picked up some great swag from the 64th Aggressor Squadron at Nellis. They go all out. Bort numbers on the intakes, Cyrillic writing on their patches, all their jets painted up in various Russian paint schemes. Their motto is "Know, Teach, Replicate".

Around 10:45 Mountain Time, air raid sirens went off for 15 minutes in Albuquerque. I'm here and I heard it. I immediately called my friends around the country. One report from Ft. XXX was that three US Air force Bases in Alaska, just scrambled over 65 aircraft into the sky. One of my West Coast contacts said that to the South of his base, Sacramento was overcast from smoke and couldn't comment on anything else.
So I'm trying to confirm if there is anyone here, that can confirm the launching of combat aircraft, and that the Alaskan bases are or were, on shelter in place.
Interesting enough, a Chinese Virologist (now in the USA) has just disclosed that China intentionally engineered the Wuhan Virus, and purposely released it to contaminate the world (Tucker Carlson FOX News at 18:15 MT today).
It sounds like things are ratcheting up.

The University of New Mexico was conducting a test of its Campus Warning Siren System. Get used to it. It's always late morning on Tuesdays, once per month.

These are from Nellis AFB. to my understanding, this is an aggressor paint job. ( i was sitting near the speed way when i got these.

The F-16 picture i am looking for was painted in Black with red trim... It's on this SanDisk somewhere I'm rooting through 8000+ files of photos.

Edit: DAMNIT.. i didn't upload pics.

Ok I'm done looking. These are screenshot of the black F-16 I was talking about.
it was faster to Google It.

Haven't been to vegas in years. But was at these 2 locations. 😊

Provide a source please.
I have yet to read anything from anybody, in Alaska.

They've run multiple social media polls to determine a couple of their paint schemes. They took the Arctic camouflage bird and turned it into Wraith after one of them. They also have an Su-57 scheme.

That's neat, never heard of that. So these are basically OpFor?

What is your opinion on using F-16s to mimic enemy fighters? Would be very intriguing to know the thinking behind choice of jets to use for this.

It's really nothing super special in and of itself, what makes it special is the very experienced fighter pilots who staff it, they're among the best in the air force and the jets being painted as an adversary is simply to increase immersion. All they do, is take off get in a box on the opfor side, the friendlies get in a box on the friendly side, then the aggressors will fly close as they can to known profiles of adversaries, hence aggressor while the friendlies practices execution of their tactics, techniques, and procedures, namely their intercept timeline, various markers along that from PR to MTR, then once the fight gets down to the visual stuff, they practice various types of ACM (air combat maneuver techniques) and execution in 2 v 1 and probably at this level 2 v X scenarios... it really is as benign as it is high speed lol, they choose the airframe simply because of availability and ease.... its just way easier to get an F-16 to act like a MiG-29, than trying to find spare MiG-29s to purchase for the same purpose lol.

edit: just wanted to add, i saw in a documentary once, one of the aggressor pilots was describing what his job is, which is namely to teach other fighter pilots how to be better in the air to air role, and he said because of that, they're not really going out there to stomp on the students, but quite the opposite they feel quite handcuffed because they have to keep it to the right profile so its about giving the same experience to the student they'd see out there if they ever are in the air to air fight for real.
