What alien species are you talking about? Generally a place like Earth is like sitting in an ants nest with all those humans running around.

Would you want to be a the centre of a hornets nest of media activity if the people where to wake up?

As for the assimilation programs of the Grays, looks like they have been working on it for a few generations now.
