If voter turnout is the same as 2016 and the ballot rejection rate equals the 1.4% from this year’s primary, nearly 43,000 voters in Pennsylvania could be disenfranchised this fall, according to AP’s analysis. That’s almost the same number of votes by which Trump defeated Democrat Hillary Clinton in the state four years ago, when some 2,100 ballots were rejected.

The AP is projecting a huge increase in mail-in ballots being rejected on technical grounds this coming election. With both sides worried about election fraud, mail in or absentee ballots will be under increased scrutiny. The littlest mistake will be grounds for throwing away a ballot.

We saw this recently in New York and New Jersey where close to 20% of all mail-in ballots were thrown away for technical errors (postage errors, forgot to sign it, arrived too late, didn't fill it out 100% correctly)

Over 80,000 mail-in ballots disqualified in NYC primary mess

If you are passionate about your candidate, vote in person and tell your friends to vote in person.

There is about a 1 in 5 chance according to all these articles that if you vote by mail your ballot will be thrown away.

If you are worried about COVID, wear a mask, add a face shield (there are some cheap ones on Amazon - get it now), take hand sanitizer in your pocket or purse. If you are worried about long lines and standing, take a small folding chair and something to read.

If you feel this election is THE most pivotal election in our lifetime, vote in person.

The ONLY way to make certain your vote counts is to vote in person!

(Remember, this is NOT the Mud Pit!)

What I love is that they want you to sign your ballot.....

What ever happened to the privacy of your ballot choice?

The pessimist/conspiracist in me sees this as a way to identify those who aren't "correct thinking" and put them on a list for a little "re-education"....

Say what? Sign your ballot? Why not sign a register that you turned up, and then vote anonymously? Like it is done almost enywhere else in the world.
Signing your vote is really bad. Is that even legal?

Imagine volunteers having to match signatures to the voter registration card people signed years ago ! Now there's the rub - Volunteers now become expert handwriting experts - or not - maybe depending who is being voted for. Not so far fetched in this day and age.

Vote in Person and avoid all this

Privacy in voting has gone the way of all our other privacies. We gave it away for the convinence of neat little electronic devices that are more addictive than heroin. They no longer need to be turned on, and you no longer need to have it actually on your person.

No fears of being covertly implanted, the whole system is so completely engaged and intergrated, that they can track you by zoning in on your environment and those around you. Contact tracing is just their way of whitewashing the rotten fence so it is not so obvious.

So many post every tiny detail of their lives, complete with pictures and videos, from the second they wake up, to the time they close their eyes. So privacy no longer has the value it once had for far too many.

Today, we can turn on a light in our house from half a world away with our phones.

Why are we still mailing in votes and waiting in lines to vote at a glorified slot machine?

Even the movie industry uses technology to skip the lines.

Attach peoples social security numbers to a voting app and have them vote online. Add a transparency feature like how packages have tracking features, so you can personally see your vote and the total votes in real time.

If that idea can be implemented without corruption, then we can use the same thing and vote individually on laws to be passed nation and statewide, we can eliminate the Senate and Congress with this.

I know one must sign the application for the ballot, but I didn't think the ballot itself needed signing.

I know one must sign the application for the ballot, but I didn't think the ballot itself needed signing.

Before I knew what I know now:

Last primary election, I requested an absentee (mail-in) ballot

There were 2 envelopes to return the ballot in:

An outer envelope - if is postage paid the post office will not date stamp it - ballots that are not date stamped by the post office are considered invalid and not counted - be sure to put postage OVER the postage paid stamp, at least 3 regular stamps should do it, use 4 if you aren't sure

An inner envelope - I had to sign this envelope and it had to match my signature I signed when I first registered to vote, if the signature does not match, it is considered invalid and not counted
Then I had to have 2 witnesses sign the outer envelope certifying they attest that I was the same person as my signature - if my witnesses had not signed, or only one signed, it is considered invalid and not counted.

Then the ballot is placed in the inner envelope and the inner envelope put in the outer envelope and mailed.

If it arrives after Nov. 2 (voting day) it is considered invalid and not counted.

EVERYONE can request a mail-in (absentee ballot) NOW where ever you live. To prevent it being late request your absentee ballot this very minute, fill it out when it arrives, and take it to your post office directly to mail.

But if you made any mistake on the ballot (i.e. how you fill in the boxes), the envelope, or it did not get date stamped, it will be considered invalid and not counted.

ALL mail-in ballots will be gone over with a fine tooth comb this Presidential election with both sides ready to contest the election. Yes, Hillary told Biden not to concede regardless of the results and to contest the election. So both sides are planning to contest if it is even slightly close. Therefore, all mail-in ballots must be perfect in every single respect to be counted.

Already one state has found over 1,000 ballots where people double voted and they will be charged with a federal crime. www.msn.com... Don't think you can do that or ballot harvest or go to a nursing home and "help" residents fill out their ballots and not get caught this election cycle. There will be eagle eyes on every single mail-in ballot.

With a person who professionally engaged in voter fraud explaining how he did it - election officials will be on the watch for all of the methods he confessed to. If fraud is even suspected, the ballot will be considered invalid and not counted. nypost.com... If you do any of these things and are caught you WILL get a long jail sentence and have committed a federal offense which will make it difficult to get a job after you get out of jail and you will never be allowed to vote again.

The ONLY way to be sure your vote is counted is to do it in person.

EVEN then carefully watch if you vote by in person on a computer or touch screen machine.

Last Presidential election there were some machines that changed votes after they were entered. So check and double check if you are at a machine that your vote is not changed before pushing the final enter key. If the machine changes your vote, video tape the machine changing your vote, call over observers from both parties and show them. Save the video for evidence. Call your local news station and send them a copy of the video, then post it immediately on all your social media and ask friends to repost it on their social media. www.newsweek.com... www.nbcnews.com...

Oh and for the record, the shields are actually more effective than the masks, easily cleaned and reused, and do not become petri dishes for germs. They also keep you from looking like there is an alien face hugger attached to your mouth.

I use both when in a situation where I feel there might be exposure. Seniors who are afraid may be comforted by using both, that is why I suggested both for those afraid of the virus. I am a Senior who is at risk and feel double protection is best for me.

But, thank you for your input.

You don't sign the ballot. You sign the envelope used to mail the ballot, which has all your information anyway: name, address, precinct, all that good stuff. Once your ballot arrives at the county office, that fact is noted in the database that you have voted. This is public information. Political and other interested parties can buy a list of who voted to use for political purposes. You can also look up in the database online to see that your ballot has arrived. If it does not, you'll know.

The ballot itself has no identifying information. It is removed and collated with all the other ballots to be stuffed into the counting machine where it is counted anonymously. We have been using this method in WA for many years now with no negative results.

But Washington has Had Voter ID in place since 2006 - not really a fair across the board comparison ....

Lessons To Learn From Washington's Decades-Long Experience Of Mail-In Voting

WYMAN: Well, that's not been our experience here in Washington state. First and foremost, we've had voter ID at the time of registration since 2006 in our state, so we actually do have an ID check. And beyond that, we did a comparison in 2018 of voting history, and we found that about .004% of our voters did, it appears, try to vote fraudulently. They voted for someone else who had passed away, or they voted more than once. And that was 142 people out of 3.2 million ballots cast.

+if you drop off your ballot already filled out you sign the back of the envelope if someone is dropping it off for you they have to sign the other spot on the back of the envelope........I always voted in person and dropped off the ballots for rest of my family....last time I dropped them in the voting box outside the public library

If you show up and your name and address is not in the book we have you sign...you get a provisional ballots the envelope is a different color and it goes in a separate bin........we also have you sign the last page in the book someone at headquarters checks the names and the main registry to see why the name is not in the book

We are going to vote in person for sure this year. They should lengthen the voting time to two days instead of one so more people can vote. I have seen where bosses would not let anyone get off to vote, especially if the employees overall were not supportive of the employers party choice. It gets crowded at the poles on voting days, a long wait in line. Why don't they make voting day a holiday in this country?

As someone who works in information security, I could write a very lengthy paper as to why this is an absolutely horrible idea. Unfortunately the NDA's that I sign with clients prevent me from going into a lot of detail, but I can say that we are in no way, shape, or form ready for that step. If you think Russia, China, Iran, etc. are interfering in elections now, enabling the capability to vote via app is asking for compromise so fast it would make your head spin. Not only that, but imagine contesting results of an election, you'd have firms being paid billions to validate that no one compromised the process. It's an absolute nightmare scenario that we discuss regularly in the community.

Is this a legitimate idea of yours to remedy the issue of voter fraud or a sling of mud?

I have a good sense of humor and can handle mudslinging but I usually save that for the mudpits.

I proposed in my post a new idea integrating the voting process with technological advances so that voting can not only become more accessible to the public but also more transparent.

Where do our votes go?
I want to be able to see my vote along with everyone else as they get counted.

What ideas does the snake give you?
