NorEaster, ty for speaking up. It does not matter what this tyrant says or does because these people are incapable of seeing reason. It is seriously scary how their devotion can't be broken and even scarier knowing what extent this could all go because they have been put under this spell. We all know that if this was Obama all these people would be saying what we are about Trump which makes this even more frustrating. They have turned the word "Democrat" into an insult, and by doing this it automatically dismisses any argument not affiliated with the Republican agenda. I think history has shown us exactly what happens when one group of people start to hate and dismiss anyone and anything that is not in agreement with what their leaders vision.

When rationality is thrown out the window in favor of loyalty to a person or ideal eventually words won't do enough damage to satisfy those who have fallen into the side of tyranny and physical action will eventually become their tool to silence anyone who has a different opinion. The anger and venom these people harbor is frightening. They have pre-fabricated arguments for any point you make not to say that you are wrong or that they disagree but to point the finger back at you and always say "how about the people on YOUR team and what they do" which only says to me "we know how terrible the things we are defending are so our only course is to try and bring you and the people in your party down the our level so we don't feel as guilty".

This country runs on more than one party working together and this has been made almost impossible now since you are invalid if you don't support Trump. This can only lead to a clash which will divide us further and break down democracy even more than it has been already. Good, honest, caring people know how terrible Trump is and I don't care what party they are a part of but until those people start speaking up and showing these radicals that violence, racism and bigotry are not going to be accepted as the new norm these Trump supporters will fall deeper and deeper into the insanity they are powerless to escape from and soon they will allow this man to do anything he wants and they will have no choice but to agree and adopt those views as their own because admitting they were wrong attacks the thing this president holds higher than anything else in the world, EGO.

I used to be angry but now I am fearful and sad at what has been done to these poor people and hopefully they can see reason again before we lose everything because 200k deaths due to ignorance, regardless if the pandemic is his fault or not, was not enough for them. His actions could have made that number much lower than it is today and that is what is trying to be shown to you and not some "leftist hit job" trying to ensnare you. HUMAN LIVES...that is not important enough for some while that MAGA hat is on though. Shame on you.

your missing the significance and meaning of me pointing out a memory hole and its use in 1984

yes people have memories of the truth .
but as the book pointed out (quite clearly and is scary) that the memory hole destroyed PHYSICAL PROOF of whatever thing your remembering.
without that hard proof (which is destroyed) you can re write the history to reflect whatever you want it to (as they did).
anyones memory comes into question as if its accurate due to no hard proof to refer to for accuracy.
hell even winston (as anyone could) doubted what they remembered. they questioned if it was accurate and as time went on became even more questionable if not forgotten outright.
human memory can be reasonably questionable at the best of times and why we in court give more weight to hard facts/ evidence vs human memory .

the tactic of telling the same lie over and over until it becomes the truth works because you dont have the hard proof to counter it.

that is what the democrats are trying and only keep failing is because we dont have a "ministry of truth" with a "memory hole" destroying the past and re writing it .

but lets be honest and IMO quite afraid because daily we are seeing this "memory hole" concept being attempted .

the destruction of monuments, removal of "offensive" books , and wanting the language (ex there is more than male/female gender) to be forced to change.
