So because of a stupid city ordinance in smal town georgia I had to move into an apartment/townhome (not quite 1000sq feet), and deal with all the stupid that comes with aprtment living, at first things werent to bad.

Then the neighbor moved in upstairs, and got a beagle.

Now that poor dog is doing what beagles do and barking all fricking day long echoing down the vents which is in turn spinning up my dogs a staffordshire terrier and a husky, on top of I just got my first steroid injection to treat my back and lucky me I drew insomnia and an inability to read at normal range for my side effects.

By the way beagles can be great dogs if given the oppertunity to burn off some energy, this one doesnt get that chance.

ARGH... why do people get dogs they dont know how to take care of...

Because people are stupid and selfish and we convince ourselves we are bettering something by messing it up emotionally for our needs.

What kind of ordinance forces you to move into a 1,000 sq ft apartment.

People need to stay out of homes they aren't invited in.

I just found out our city issued a city ordinance that you can only have 3 dogs. We got about 10 acres of land, runs for our kennels and fenced off about half an acre for them to run free.

We actually talked to a vet before getting a husky, he said if they are born in a warmer climate they can deal with it better.

Ours was born in Arkansas so he handles heat pretty well, but he is also 14 years old so he hangs out most of the time insider and gets his long walk after sun set.

Mmkay. I am sure someone breeds Pekinese in Alaska too. I just see so many peeps with big dogs that live in apartments and think wtf. Then they take them out and leave their horse turds on the sidewalk. At least here in the UK anyway.

Nah most of his life has been in a house with a yard, and I got the habit in germany to always carry a bag to clean up when walking the dogs.

At this point 3 out of our 4 pets we have had over a decade we will always make acomodations for them, so when we ran into problems at the new job for housing we did what we had to.

How do they argue that? What is the reasoning behind that, did you ask by any chance? That sounds so stupid and wrong, or is there more to it?

How can a town force someone out of their home because of this? Does the town own all the houses? And yet I thought German laws are strict and often unnecessary.

Property manager told me it was done after a crazy cat lady type episode with a rental property and as the govt does they went strict.

We had to find a new place after the owners of the house we were renting decided to sell, and we had to move into the county I am working in and thats when we hit the issue.

Small population area military base is primary job provider and because of Covid I was competing with people for homes in the big move season for the miliatry.

That's so wrong, from my viewpoint

I know the situation you were in though, I had to find a new place in the midst of the lockdown in my country, too and was so lucky to find a nice place with caring neighbors and hearty owners.

About the beagle, have you thought about make the beagles owner aware it is barking all day?

Today was the first day its been this bad, almost 8 hours straight I never see them except in the evening so ill try and catch them this evening.

I feel terrible for the dog, couped up in the apartment all day and will be the only one to suffer from the whole mess.

If whatever kept him barking repeats, it's going to turn into behavioral norm for the dog. My family always had dogs around, at least two, most of the time's three. It's good that your Husky has a compagnion as they are pack animals, more than any other dog race. Huskies are marvelous and special.

Just a thought - may not be feasible, but:

Maybe you could offer to the neighbors to let the beagle hang out with your dogs during their work days?

What are the chances your city is going to come to your door and count your pets? Zero.

Tell your landlord one of your cats died. When he comes around, throw one of your cats in a carrier and tell your wife to take it for a ride.

I ran into this in the 60's. A friend of mine took one of my cats until the landlord left.

There are ways around stupid laws, especially those as stupid as the one you are subject to.

If nothing has blown up by the time she gets back she said she will offer.
