Nice, you buy a phone that has "pre installed" malware right from the manufacturer that signs you up for paid services and steals your money. A lesson the entire world needs to learn, don't trust Chinese companies. Does anyone really want Huawei deploying 5G across the globe?

www.buzzfeednews.com...

According to an investigation by Secure-D, a mobile security service, and BuzzFeed News, software embedded in his phone right out of the box was draining his data while trying to steal his money. Mxolosi’s Tecno W2 was infected with xHelper and Triada, malware that secretly downloaded apps and attempted to subscribe him to paid services without his knowledge.

Secure-D’s system, which mobile carriers use to protect their networks and customers against fraudulent transactions, blocked 844,000 transactions connected to preinstalled malware on Transsion phones between March and December 2019.

Secure-D Managing Director Geoffrey Cleaves told BuzzFeed News that Mxolosi’s data was used up by the malware as it attempted to subscribe him to paid services.

More anti-Chinese propaganda.

It is clear that the CCP are dangerous but America is flooded with anti-Chinese propaganda.

That because China has been working real hard lately to screw everyone over. In order to maintain power they are taking larger and larger risks. Heck even Putin at this point has stopped the sale of weapons to them and that's serious because Russia needs money badly. They have isolated themselves through their actions and this need to start border disputes with everyone. .

... and after scamming all the average folks in Africa, the Chinese scammers rang up a resounding $47.95

The poor always get shafted first.

I love my Huawei P30.

Never had it download anything to my knowledge and charge me without specifically requesting it to do so from the app store.

Certainly prefer it to any Apple affairs i have own or purchased for the kids.

kidding of course.

I like LG phones but now use a Pixel 4, mainly for the camera

A few years ago I tried to "root" my younger sister's phone (I don't remember why), and I found out that many phones came with software preinstalled that was full of malware.
The problem was not the phone operating system or the preinstalled software itself, the problem was a framework for making apps that most lazy programmers use to make apps quickly.

More anti-Chinese propaganda.

The first thing I noticed when I joined ATS 16 years ago was the hatred people from the US have against the Chinese.

yeah...I don't get it.

I'm guessing that since the wall came down, we needed a new "boogeyman"

I suppose there are not really that many members around on ATS from China that can counteract the hyperbole and hatred thats said about both them and there nation.
