That's actually the correct answer I think.

If a chickens great, great... Great grandmother was a Trex and it's great, great... granddaughter is who knows what.

Then naming it a chicken now seems kinda silly.

Although against my point, the changes will be so slow that in a few million years when they are talking and building machinery we will still be calling them chickens.

I solved this one back when I was a kid; No one ever said where the egg came from, and dinosaurs were laying eggs long before chickens came along, it's an easy one, lol

I did an experiment.

Took an unfertilized chicken egg, hid it in some grass for 3 months.
Boy did it stink!

This is also a repeatable experiment.

many ovoviviparous animals preceded the humble chicken.
In a way single celled life operates somewhat like an egg, in that it encapsulated genetic material.
on this basis, I would argue that the egg came first.
