Been here in California 58 yrs and yes, a thunderstorm with lightning was the culprit. Thunder was off the charts!

You are correct though, not much happens in our summer weather besides extreme heat. last Weds. we hit 113° here and I am 15 mins from the ocean!

I cannot handle heat over 100° anymore.

Take a look at the new and improved lightning, the one is San Fran is really an amazing thing.
