It should actually go like this.

First: Graduate High School

Second: Don't have kids until you're married.

Third: Get a full-time job.

Proven formula for anyone to be successful. Doing these things will lead to the ones you listed above.

A man with a beautiful house and a cool car is a magnet for women.

1) establish a relationship with God. if this doesn't happen nothing else will work.

2) find a good wife. next to religion, this ruins more men than anything else. a good spouse will be the greatest blessing imaginable.

3) job/career. don't be afraid to walk out and try something different; I didn't get my real job til I was 40.

4) vehicle. small pickup until the kids appear. you will have multiple vehicles in your life so don't be too obsessed with.

when you're young and single you can explore; move for job, join military. married and settled at 18 works--sometimes--but lots of men get restless if they settle too soon.

good job seeking counsel. most kids are 'I know what I'm doing oops'

Find the wife first. If she's the right woman, everything else will be easy. She will give you the strength and support to do almost anything.

I'm guessing your not married and don't have kids? Most men value both highly and will put their needs before their own.

Of course, find yourself first, but the OP mentioned 3 things specifically and whoever hasn't found them self by the time they're looking to do those 3 things should probably get out of their parents basement.

Well, I was always taught to do things in this order:

1. Crush your enemies.

2. See them driven before you.

3. Hear the lamentation of the women.

That seems to work.

D. Car, wife, house.
Having an income and being able to support yourself is the most important of those. Having a car gets you to work. Don't worry about getting a house or a wife if you don't even have a means of getting yourself to work or to other necessary places. You'll just dig yourself into a potentially huge hole.
Having a house before having a wife makes it more difficult to coordinate a life with a potential wife. You might need to find a place to live that is within reasonable distance from both of your jobs. Relocating from a house is more complicated than relocating from an apartment. You can just move out of an apartment.

I've been talking to/seeing a girl (well, a woman) for a while now and we've discussed the concept of getting married. Neither of us wanted to do "casual dating", so we both began seeing each other with the understanding that the intention was to determine the viability of being married one day. I guess "courtship" is the right word there. We figure the best way to go about it will be that if/when we were to decide to marry in two or three years, we would get a nice apartment on a temporary basis while we look at homes together, potentially in another part of the state, or another state entirely.
