Actual title. It wouldn’t fit.

“Trump Says Executive Order Will Drop the Price of Insulin Down to Pennies a Day“

President trump took aim at big pharmaceutical companies with executive orders to force prices to be lowered to affordable levels.
I know epi pens and insulin have become overpriced today and hopefully this will fix that situation.
The orders cover several topics and I think “if executed properly” this might help a lot of people.

Importing drugs from countries like Canada is now an option and the fourth order is a great start in my opinion too. That one stops drug companies from charging $8 for a single pill in the United States while selling the exact same pill in Germany or France for $1.
This should also drop the costs for insurance companies paying for these drugs.

In his words.

“ “The four orders I’m signing today will be on the prescription drug market in terms of pricing and everything else to make these medications affordable and accessible for all Americans. The first order will require federal community health centers to pass the giant discounts they received from drug companies on insulin and EpiPens directly to their patients. You know insulin became so expensive people weren’t able to use it. They desperately needed it,”

“For decades our citizens have paid the highest prices for drugs, prescription drugs, anywhere in the world, and it is not even close. Foreign nations have paid vastly less for the exact same drug again and the exact same box from the exact same plant, from the exact same company. They would pay 10%, 20%, 30%. What our people are paying a pill that would sell for one dollar in certain countries,”

I don’t know how well this set of executive orders will work but I do think it is a step in the right direction.
This is what I have always suggested that president Obama should have done instead of trying to pay to insure every American.
Lower the cost of medical treatments, not just pay for insurance.
This same concept should be applied for treatments like MRI’s and CT scans.

This is good news. My 84 year old, dad struggles with the cost of his Insulin. Something about a donut hole. I hope this works.

This is the kind of common sense we need from our politicians. I do not support what is essentially legislation coming from the executive branch, but since Congress is utterly useless I suppose this is the best we can expect from our government.

Why cant Congress do this why does it have to be executive order? We need to put the members of congress on the obamacare plan and see them fix it overnight. Thank you President Trump for thinking of we the people. Now if only congress could do anything to help.

Gonna go ahead and say this will never work, without citing any numbers or examples, and just say it's because I dont like him. Also in my head there are infinite possibilities for anyone to be president, so following trump will only cause this nation to crumble even father. I would also like to point out that Joe Biden's eyes look normal to me, and have never delved into Yeats poetry.

I'm not going to hammer on the democrats here because both sides refuse to do anything to make the current president look good.

If biden does win in November I doubt the GOP will make life easy on him.

Good stuff! lots of Americans take trips to Canada to get insulin, about 1/10th the cost..I wonder what they been doing the last 4 months?

The whole thing is a scam, the creator of insulin wanted it to be free pretty much, but the drug companies are snakes, playing with formulations and the patents applied.

They most likely will just reduce the effectiveness to the point it would equal out
Look at Byetta.
Just before it was approved , one shot would do a type 1 diabetic for about 1 year.
At a low cost at that.
When released ?
1 shot a day.
Oops , sorry , it now is Type 2 and 2 shots/day
Just looked it up.
Why ?

Government price controls on pharmaceuticals is essentially socialism.

But letting the energy companies write their own ticket is just good business.

Pretty sad when the only thing that matters is maximum profit, not how health care should be.

I didn't mention either side that's why I said congress. Both sides are equally worthless these days. They need to squash their beefs and work together on real legislation to help all americans.

How is this setting price controls?
All I see here is consumer protection from price gouging.

The government nearly destroyed the rail road industry by setting shipping rates.
When that ended the railroads were actually allowed to make a profit.

This is awesome! I hope it works out as intended. Trump gets bragging rights on this, since the people we’ve been paying to do this have been more focused on ideological BS.

As far as I know.
