No More Stealth: China's Quantum Radar Could Reveal All Submarines.
Quantum technology could also serve as advanced navigational sensor—one that could circumvent submarine dependence on orbiting satellites to stay on course.
Here's What You Need To Remember: China has also famously made breakthroughs in using quantum entanglement for encrypted communications by teleporting molecules over long distances. This could conceivably have application to communications with submerged submarines, a technically challenging task—with implications particularly for transmission of orders from a national command authority to launch nuclear weapons.
If the beamed particles bump into, say, a stealth fighter, the effect on the beamed photon would be visible on the un-beamed partner photon as well. Then the photons which register a ‘ping’ are sorted out from the unaffected photons to form a sort of radar image.
The basic concept is to create a stream of entangled visible-frequency photons and split it in half. One half, the "signal beam", goes through a conversion to microwave frequencies in a way that preserves the original quantum state. The microwave signal is then sent and received as in a normal radar system. When the reflected signal is received it is converted back into visible photons and compared with the other half of the original entangled beam, the "idler beam".

Oh no quantum radars from china!
Hmm, a Quantum of Solice.

I found a better description. On Wikipedia, of all places.

This makes more sense, since it involves the bounced beam as well as the reference beam. It still requires a reflection back to the receiver so is still subject to stealth technology.
en.wikipedia.org...
Mostly it's a system of reducing "noise", jamming, weather effects, etc.
And no, it won't find submarines.
Remember Reagan's Star Wars stuff? We couldn't do a quarter of what we were claiming

Read the article. The headline is somewhat deceptive, conflating technologies.
They also imply that quantum entanglement can be used for communication. It can't.

Im still trying to understand how China is supposedly using "radar" under water. Pretty sure they are not using microwaves under water.

This question Phage cannot contend with....its knowledge Phage doesnt have....at all....its Sublingual Data with zero Published Peer Review ,data Phage doesn't identify quantify validate nor use in ways others do.
Its not just water this tech can see through.

Phage is probably the most scientifically literate person on this venue.
As such, one would be wise to take his advice, especially when dealing with Chinese technology claims citing quantum entanglement used in ANYTHING, especially weapons and communications. If you had a dime for every pseudo-scientific diatribe that China claimed as a scientific breakthrough... we could all retire. Most of this crap is picked up and repeated with face# and twerker, and that is how it gets it's broken legs.
BTW: I used to find submarines for a living.
Cannot ever talk about some of that equipment, however..
It is the technology you wont hear about that is real.
