The Trump administration has formally withdrawn the United States from the World Health Organization (WHO), as the United Nations-backed agency continues to face fierce criticism over its response to the Chinese coronavirus pandemic, according to Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ).

Menendez, the ranking member on the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, wrote on Twitter that the Trump administration has pulled out from the WHO.

Congress received notification that POTUS officially withdrew the U.S. from the @WHO in the midst of a pandemic. To call Trump’s response to COVID chaotic & incoherent doesn’t do it justice. This won’t protect American lives or interests—it leaves Americans sick & America alone.

I listened to President Trump's announcement and he did say we would be looking into other worldwide organizations that focus on world health issues. I wish I could remember exactly how he worded it, but he definitely has some alternatives. I'm having difficulty finding a transcript or video of the whole briefing, however.

Understandable. But, there has been an investigation going on regarding the W.H.O.'s mishandling of this pandemic and their constant pandering to the Chinese Communist Party. Maybe when it is completed, we will know more of the reasons on which this decision was based.

The amount of money the U.S. forks over in comparison to the paltry amount China donates is another issue W.H.O. hasn't deigned to address. Taiwan is another sore spot.

The U.S. has been taken for a ride for a long long time. I'm sure politicians have turned a blind eye to a lot of it because....well...politicians.

Believe it or not, in my opinion, FB may not be too bad, they did, after all, balk at censoring or adding disclaimers to Trumps post, letting the audience decide on the merits of the message.

This is in stark contrast to the other big tech firms that are censoring and adding disclaimers, yet do nothing to other politicians in DC, infact he may be the only official with disclaimers.

I get it, FB is still crap, but as along as they let Trumps post go untouch, that's a yuge positive for me.

Even Japan has said the WHO should be renamed the CHO (China Health Organization) given China's Communist Party's role in covering up the coronavirus outbreak. The Japanese government has also been very critical of how the WHO has treated Taiwan.

Maybe the W.H.O. can get rid of Tedros and make the needed changes. I doubt it though.
