Yes, being dead right is stupid. And yes, the physics of Car vs Human should be recognized as a self survival question. Myself as a pedestrian crossing the street I always seek to get eye contact with any on coming drivers to see if they even see me, or care I am even there. I use hand gestures so they will know that I see them. Same thing in parking lots always know that the person behind the wheel is cognizant of your presence. I agree fully with your sentiments here.

However there are also laws that hold to a higher level of responsibility on the part if the individual who is behind the wheel. That responsible is to watch for stupid people in your way be that on a street corner, in a parking lot or on a freeway where there are vehicles already in place creating a hazard for the free exercise of driving.

This was the case at that protest. Dumb people in the roadway, deciding against the laws of physics for their own safety. I have yet to find any examples of a state that declares that people in a roadway are free game for drivers who encounter them. In my state is is required that if you are driving down the freeway and see either a flashing light or even a vehicle pulled off to the side of the road, that for caution, you must move to the left lane to avoid any approaching hindrances to the free passage of your vehicle.

This from what I have found about this incident was the case. All due caution on the part of that driver was not executed as it should have been along with his driving away from a hit and runll

Yeah, I know, I have read both versions of what happened, I really don't know, I guess we will find out soon enough.
Still, after what happened to that 60 year old man sitting at a red light waiting to turn right, getting is an option that most don't want to risk.
Hopefully they get to the bottom of this AND is doesn't cause anymore 'stuff'.

No drugs were in his system when I read the news about the toxicology report.
Things change though, I read that two days ago, I think.

Never mind, I didn't read all the way to the end like I normally would, I see that you have already been told about all of this.

My chips are with this story being ghosted, considering the driver is black and he wasn't intoxicated, that we know.

Could you imagine where this story would be today if the guy was a white 27 year old male?

When I was in Drivers ED back in the good ol days, we covered what to do if there are 'animals' in the road..

Do not put your own life in danger by defensively swerving... just hit it.

ATS has gone so far down that it's filled with right wing trash that cheer on the death of others based on politics.

No wonder ATS is dying. Mods don't even remove your pathetic post.

^^imagine being triggered because someone wouldn't let you harass or kill them.

Cause stopping or slowing down and maneuvering around the cars is not better than going straight through protestors.

Go f$ck yourself.

Iv seen what happens when you stop

I wouldent stop

Most people that get hit bye a car survive

Most people that get pulled out of a car bye a mob do not

Disgusting.. Why even post that? For one he could have slowed down and taken a different path. Or other scenarios.

He literally flew through an obious blocked highway with little care for any civilians in the way.

m.youtube.com...

Don't pop a blood vessel now

Intelligent. We have ATS members cheering on a guy wrecklessly flying through 2 blockades and killing people. Then ATS people calling the victims monkeys and animals.

F$clk this website. ATS has fallen so far from its days of conspiratorial intrigue. Now demoted to the likes of 4chan sh!t posting.

Im done. You alt right morons can take over ATS and let it slowly burn down to the ground.

Interesting that you're crying about the mods not enforcing the rules, when all 3 of these posts violate the T&C.

As usual, leftists don't think the rules apply to them. They just want them used to shut the other side up since they can't debate. If anything the mods have been going easy on the left-wing members because there's so few of you guys left and all you do is cry about how unfair the site is.

On topic, I defended the driver before he was identified, although at the time I didn't know the road was closed. Considering the road was closed, the driver bears some responsibility. But this was obviously an accident. You can see he tries to avoid them. If he has a clean prior record, I hope he gets off with parole. You just don't expect people to be standing in the middle of a highway.

first up, i hate asssh0les who block traffic.
hopefully this will send a message to the other fools.
yes, im that hard.

second, but more importantly, could the guy have gone somewhere else to drive around?

now i know, if i see asssh0les blocking traffic, hit reverse go around them.
it sucks, but crybabies gotta cry, and for some reason [nationless protocols] people feel entitled to bother innocent people via stopping traffic.

its over here. too many useful idiots.
the villains have won, america is kaput.

im so pissed, i love my republic.
and im watching her die all around me, and to watch her die by stupid useful idiots succumbing to propaganda?

I agree with you, but an interesting book is called The Invisible Gorilla that talks about the limitations of our brain. A big limitation is our brain fills in most of what we see and when something is out of the norm the brain can basically not see it.

More than 50% will fail this test, and those that pass it have the same chance to fail another one so they are not speical.

I tried not to take sides in this one until I have more info.
I don't think he meant to hurt anyone but I do think he drove on a closed road so he's screwed.

You mean like another blocked off road? Sure. He could have went around those barricades too.

Driving on a closed road leading to the death of someone.
Even if he gets a slap on the wrist on a legal level his butt is going to be nailed on the civil lawsuit side. No idea if he has any assets to take but his family better be doing some shuffling if he does.

That brings up a good point in how crazy Seattle might be with blocked off roads. How much could this be in frustration of just trying to go from point A to point B. Add in people can not navigate anymore without their GPS and we can see how people go a direction that is wrong because the GPS says that is the way to go. They are helpless without it being correct and if you randomly close roads with no notice this can go wrong quickly.

If I blow through a bunch of idiots blocking my privilege to drive freely on the highway, I'm not stopping either. But this just goes to show how people are coming down on anyone who doesn't, or appears not to, follow in line with this low IQ blm authoritarian movement.

You know, it's getting really old and frankly quite disrespectful to the Founders, Mods and ATS community to blame the " alt Right " instead of CENSORSHIP that financially attacks the AD revenue of sites because they allow Free Speech ! I have very little respect for those who like to kick someone when they're down, and those of us that have learned, grown and contributed to ATS are heartbroken that this site might end and grateful people are working to save it.

This is absolutely an important story to discuss and good riddance to those that can't see that....I'm sure you'll be welcomed to Friendlier places with open arms....throw yourself in front of a car for the cause, you'll be a Hero !

There are detour settings on your GPS, it's pretty easy to mark off that this interstate ramp was closed and go around.

I don't agree with the high bail but this idiot went around barricades and killed someone.

This. He likely didn't even see the people in the road until the last second. The much larger and more dangerous vehicles they had placed in his path probably had his attention.
