I just got back from a very long hike in the woods for another Randonautica adventure. This game, while exhausting for an old dude like me, is awesome
for getting some exorcise - which I have been somewhat averse to my whole life. I can't even spell the darn word.
Anyway, my son, Brady, set his intention for 'Supernatural'.
We made two attempts, both of which sort of were hits. Kind of, if you use your imagination a little,
.
On the first attempt, the pin took us several kilometers away from the Tim Horton's we parked at into a quiet suburban area.
I'm not sure how addresses work elsewhere in the world but, in case it's different where you live, in Canada the even numbered houses are on one side
of the street and the odd numbers on the other side.
We followed the coordinates to an empty lot overgrown with weeds set between two houses on the odd side of the street.
It was between Number 11 and 15. Had there been a house built there, it would have been number 13.
I didn't want to take any pictures because there were people outside on the other side of the street watching us driving by slowly. It's hard to play
this game when it takes you into private neighbourhoods.
So that was kind of weird: 13 - at least, we thought it was. Maybe nobody bought the lot and built on it because of their superstition? Who knows? Not
quite supernatural but....
Our final attempt dropped the pin into the middle of a dense bushy trail near an old mining road. We continued with Brady's same intention,
'Supernatural'.
I'm glad we brought the dogs because, had we encountered a black bear, they might have made enough barking noise to scare it away.
Around these parts, where I live, it's estimated there are thousands of black bears. Right in the same area where the pin dropped, statistics show
there are at least 400 black bears there.
Lovely. I'm gonna' have to get me a whistle and some bear spray if I plan to continue this Rando thing.
We were deep in the woods by now, and sitting there, all by itself was this giant, super-sized mushroom cap:
I should have put my shoe beside it to give you an idea of its scale. It was off the charts big. I'd never seen such a large mushroom cap before, not
in these parts. It was off its stem, too, nowhere to be found.
Due to its size, I guess you could say it was 'supernatural'?
While Brady and I are examining the mushroom cap, the dogs suddenly got interested in something right in the bush beside it.
Despite no swamps around, no body of water anywhere in sight, the dogs found this tiny little guy hopping around withing inches of the mushroom
cap:
Is there something supernatural about toads? Or mushrooms?
I know the number 13 is associated with the supernatural but, toads and mushrooms?
Hmmmm....
ETA: I just asked my wife what she thought, and her immediate reaction was, "Well, toads and mushrooms are associated with witchcraft!"
Holy crap.
