There's a real problem when a kid does something like that without fear of getting an ass kicking from a parent.

She yelled "mom watch* because the driver decided to back up while her mom still was behind the car. The kid was not behind the car ffs. You can clearly see the car backing up and the kid moving in opposite direction

One thing I agree with in this whole mess was at the press conference. The Chief I assuming it was said that tensions are really high, that the police and all of us need to work to de-escalate situations.

Would I be annoyed if someone bumps my child? Yes. Would I take it that far no.

Two points, someone mentioned the child said watch. I thought she meant it as watch or said watch out. I know they wanted the license plate and the driver almost backed into the mom. I do admit when I worked somewhere that cars were pulling in/out if they didn't see me, and I was about to be hit, I would knock on the car where I was to alert them I was there.

This whole scenario is bad. I think per the press conference as both people were in the car there was no immediate threat and should not have gotten out of the car with weapons drawn.

This was like in Fight Club where they're given a mission to go out and start a fight and lose.

These assholes desperately wanted to be a victim and record it and they got what they wanted.

You are sadly probably right. Although the situation escalated way too high on both parts I think. The drawing of the weapon went too far. If the mother was armed too or like the child went to grab the mom and the other lady panicked at the movement this all could have went horribly wrong.

When someone is standing in front of your car to block you, what would happen if you put your car in drive and let it just slowly roll forward? If the person standing in front of your car lets themselves get slowly run over, with plenty of opportunity to get out of the way, is it their fault for getting run over, or your fault for running them over?

Not sure where you live, but it's likely you're surrounded by guns every day and don't even realize it. If gun owners and guns were as deadly as you think they are, you'd be dead now.

In Pennsylvania, for example, we have about 13 million residents. About 1 million adults in this state have concealed carry permits. And permit holders typically don't go through the trouble of obtaining one unless they're going to carry on a regular basis.

This means, in Pennsylvania (except for Communist Philadelphia), everywhere you go about 1 out of every 13 people you encounter is carrying a gun. Unless you stay in your home every day, you cross paths with multiple guns every single day and most people have no idea. Because carriers are actually that safe.

Maybe talk to some gun owners instead of listening to propaganda. This woman is an exception, not the rule.

Legally or morally?

Legally you basically just committed assault with a deadly weapon (your car). A person simply blocking your movement is not grounds to use a deadly weapon.

Now if there's a crowd of people and you legitimately feel like your life is in danger, that's a whole different story.

No, I'm not saying that at all. The mob was merely an example.

In general, you have to feel like your life is in danger to use a deadly weapon--in this case, your car.

In the scenario you gamed out, where a single person is merely standing in your way, you'd have a hard time convincing a jury you had a legitimate fear for your life. I despise these "protesters" who are non-peacefully disrupting other peoples' lives. However, them inconveniencing you is not grounds to potentially kill someone with your car.

If it's a single person and they are doing something that you feel puts your life at risk, you could be justified in proceeding forward with your car. It's very situational.

If you have real questions about when you're legally allowed to use deadly force in your state, I'd recommend you take a concealed carry training course from a certified instructor. They'll go over the laws for when you can use deadly force with your gun, which will generally also apply to other deadly weapons (like your car).

In this case someone was not just standing there, they intentionally got in the way of the vehicle.

I personally would have waited for the police to arrive after calling them and filming them attaching me in my vehicle. if they tried to get in or did damage, I would show a weapon but not point it at them yet.

Both sides here were stupid but only one side wanted to get shot or ran over, trying to play the victum.
