No I have not. Mine is just a plain old M9 with some old Hogue rubber grips to be even fatter. Still need to pick up the 22LR conversion kit for hunting purposes in a long term SHTF. And yes, I do have a CX4 Storm rifle in 9mm for that magazine sharing purpose as well.

I’m a Beretta guy myself, but I have the paws for them.

The Beretta APX and Stoeger-STR are almost identical in size and weight. You can definitely tell when you're not carrying it.

I have a Stoeger 8045, which Beretta gave them the tooling and spare parts and springs when they discontinued the Cougar 8000 series.

Nice, have you had any work done to your CX4? They look pretty nice with a barrel shroud. They also make picatinny rails, so you can add a light and/or foregrips.

I know a few guys who decided to sacrifice barrel length and threaded their's for suppression or compensation.

No, I’m not big on mods. In fact I still have not bought a sling for it.

That's cool. I'm not one to tell another person what to do with their gun. It's your gun. But a sling would be a good idea. That's what keeps it from getting lost or yanked away from ya.

I have an acquaintance who is really keen on P365 SAS. It's a micro-compact with anti-snare design; there are no sight posts on the barrel (the sight is sunken into the slide); the takedown switch and mag release are flush mounted.

Sig SAS P365

IDK, the odd sighting would seem like it'd need to take a lot of practice to get used to. I'm told, from a concealed carry POV, though, it's very light and easy to handle (but what difference does that make if the wonky sights make aiming tricky).

Might consider something like that for carry at some point, but I'd rather get something more conventional to start with.

Never really had a paper target get squirrelly yet. 9mm is a terrible hunting round. But if it came right down to it, I have lots of paracord and knowledge on how to fabricate various items. A bit off topic but I do own knitting needles and various leather working tools and supplies.

I bought the SAS and put it in a Bugbite ankle holster, I had no problem hitting 6" steel at 7 yards. The sights are different for sure, but easy enough to use.
Capacity is what I was drawn to, 10+1 is awesome for such a small pistol.

My permit was finally issued recently. From the time where I first started checking into the process and paperwork, till receiving the actual permit, total time was around 8 months.

I didn't waste any time and went out and bought one of the pistols from my list:

S&W M&P Shield 9mm micro-compact

Around here, inventory is scarce, same as probably many places right now. I couldn't find Sig P365 or really many Sigs at all. The day I bought the M&P, 2 of those model reached the shop, and they both went out the door that same day.

Thanks everyone for your input and advice in this thread

edit on 30-3-2021 by SleeperHasAwakened because: Correct my permit time, it was 8 not 9 months

Some information for any potential future buys, if a store doesn't have a specific gun in it's inventory, they will usually order one for you to pick up in store. If they don't they suck.

Almost every gun I've bought I've had to get special ordered.

Also, if they don't let you take it apart or take it apart for you so you can inspect the internals then go shop somewhere else. Especially if it's a used gun, and especially if they never bothered to clean it.

Just picked up a Glock 43x. Highly recommend checking this out for a carry gun.
