What would you do if you and your family and property were threatened by the mob?

You mean peacefully walking down the sidewalk? Nothing. Probably sit on my porch and wave in support.

Rioters look for easy victims not a fair fight.

And as a "landlord" myself I don't have much sympathy for most renters.

You're last line is why we're gonna come for you first. Clearly compassion is lacking on your part. May god have mercy on your soul, because no one else will.

Careful up there on that pedestal..its a long way down when you fall off of it.

Truthfully my renters have been great during the pandemic. The ones laid off have been getting a $600 a week bonus above unemployment.

I am also getting out of the rental business as it's harder to find someone that actually pays on time.
It's only going to get worse.

And a serious question for you.
How would you feel if your employer says that you are only getting half of your paycheck for the next month?
Business is tight right now and we just can't afford your full pay. You would let them slide right?
Pandemic and whatnot going around.

You judged me by one line?
Nice...

Try renting houses for a few years and get back to me.

I'm going to do a thread tonight about my renter stories.

I did love the come for me first line too.
Then you speak of compassion...lol

Pedestal? Could you explain that for me. That pejoritive has been leveled at me a number of times. Have you used that one on me before or is it just a new trope used by people.

Yes, I have a son who is receiving that extra unemployment and he is still renting, though doing little else. His work has been killed, stage management. No venues and none in sight. And he has been at it now for a couple of decades. He and his may have to pick up and move in on us and start all over again .He hates the idea of having to move in with daddy.

But my questions to you were not meant to be looking down from a pedestal at you, more questions that elude me again as I have never been a land lord. It raises so many ethical questions as well as simply economic questions that I have never had to deal with.

On a pedestal.
Your attitude comes across as someone believing they are morally superior with their views on a subject.

Which is odd because you said you have no experience or personal knowledge of the subject you are being so judgemental about.

Maybe this trope as you say had been levied on you multiple times because the shoe fits. Probably not intentional on your part.

Now as for the economics,..
Just make an attempt to see the landlords viewpoint.
Was it an ethical question when I spent nearly $16k to clean up a meth lab?

Who is we? Also why is this "we" so threatening? He says he has no sympathy for renters, as someone who is only now building my own house and has rented for 20ish years, I don't blame him. I live in a controlled access building with an elevator, want a list of weird crap I've found in that elevator? Perhaps some of the downright destructive neighbors I've had over the years as well? Drug dealers, domestic abusers, etc. etc. the one apartment I lived at that for 3 years a wanted felon had lived in and was still using as his address on documentation, so we kept getting a visit from the sheriff looking for the guy? I imagine most renters are perfectly fine, but there's a pretty big group of them that just don't give a damn and treat property that they don't own like crap.

I actually said "most" renters...lol..

I would say 25% are great renters.
50% are generally good
And 25% are God awful hell spawn.

Ever lived outside an HOA in Florida?
Absolute necessity in some areas.
Some people don't gaf about your often largest investment.

Hoas turning into little nazis is the bad side of it.
Kinda like government.
Hence representatives not working anymore.
Just enriching themselves.

You can't give one group control of society, people are greedy.

They will grenade the whole country to maintain power.
(Like they are now)

My cuz is s property magnate. Most.of.it in eastern kentucky. Talk about stories. These one set of fools went on vacation a dumped a bunch of food in the middle.of the living room anticipating how much the 7 dogs, 20 cats and 1 very large tortise would eat in a week. After three days the neighbors started complaining of the smells. Apparently giant tortise turds smell real bad.

Point is, poor folk is savages and need to be fenced in.

Right on the money. Even Bluntone who stated he is a landlord has in another post stated that he plans to get out of it soon. And who will buy his rental property? Corporations. Because soon enough it will only be corporations that have enough money and credit to do so.

The are places already like that in some places. They are called "Master Communities".

Everything you need is inside the gates at the Town Center. The Town Center has on-site conveniences such as shops, restaurants, services, and healthcare. They claim to provide a vibrant social hub, and they say they hosts concerts, events, and celebrations for the residents. You don't have to leave the community for anything, even schools are within walking distance.

One such place is named Westlake, and it even comes with its own police force.

I just don't get the hatred for those with money. If people were starving to death in the US sure but that's not what is going on.

You either don't live in the US or haven't been paying attention.

Surplus of labour really comes into play when arguing wealth inequality. A little tidbit of economics that a lot of people tend to ignore.

It's not how hard you work, it's how smart you work, which also goes for the business owners or over all economics of a society.

I agree, but we have some other major non-organic issues with gaining wealth.
We have a paid off gov doing favors or running super corps.
We have taxes twisted from multi billion dollar corporations to the worker.
We have a gov trying to stay ahead of cost of living with taxes.
The small business environment is being choked out.
Anti trust not enforced.
Amazon/CIA type businesses being built..with tax subsidies
Shipping from China subsidized by tax payers, so it's $6 to buy trash from China and $150 to ship across the states.
Taxes need ended, or we need a new actually private currency, or we are in for a corporate prison hell.
I am not sure Amazon even wants buyers as the end game.
The gov is anti small business and success in every sense.

Playing the welfare state, that's all they care about.

Why pay people a livable wage, when you can outsource to near slave labour. Why allow people to escape welfare when you can make them work over time (including more than one job) with just a minimum wage?

People are working more and more with little return. Or they are forced to work overtime to earn the bare minimum, and it's not 'forced' labour, it's suggested.

Maybe we should simple tax the rich, feed the poor, till there are no rich no more, as an old song proposed.

Over one third of Americans rent their living space. Be it a house, an apartment or just a room. With so many low paid workers now out of work, just how long will it be before the ''landlord'' begins evicting tenants either pushing them to live with friends of family or in the worst case, out into the streets.

I wonder if that couple own that mansion. Was it a mansion? Looked like one to me. Interesting that they were the only two adults there. Maybe they live there alone? Maybe they could take in a few of the newly evicted homeless.

The couple bought the home years ago and been seadly pouring money back into a once fine home. Maybe Biden could take a few in since he owns several homes.

The whole HOA phenomenon is interesting and hurts society as a whole.
Maybe it will be like the movie Elysium soon.

Or we can give all rural land to the poor they don't need all that land and has hurt society as a whole.
