My brother is in 8th grade, and this is what happened in one of his classes: they have intelligent discussions a lot and they were disscussing censorship and he brought up the janet jackson incident and the teacher interrupted him saying you probably have porn under your mattress. Well not wanting to start controversy he just said ok and continued and the she interupted him again and said u probally have porn under your mattress and he said i heard u the first time and she said you probably masterbate to it. and then he was like you are being immature no one thinks your funny except you so grow up and stop interrupting. anyways he was contemplating on complaining about her. but while he was thinking about it a bunch of people told and messed everything up and did it all wrong. if anyone should have told it should have been him. and everytihng backfired when the ytold. anyways the teacher got fired because of other complaints but she said she is sueing for libe and slander but how because what she did was slander to. anyways yeah. and she called our house telling us hes been doing great in school and being all nice so if he told our mother my mom wouldnt go in and complain. she did this with other students to. when he was in the office he told nothing but the truth but he thinks other students probably went down and lied. anyways what do u think?

Her comments regarding him having pron and masturbating to it are certainly innapropriate. You would expect that from a fellow classmate and not a teacher.

While I don't think masturbation is embarassing or shameful, at that age it's not really something you want brought out into the open, particularly by a teacher, whether you do it or not. I think comments like that coming from a teacher are wrong. What an idiot.

agreed the teacher was a girl if that matters but ive seen her and she is the complete opposite of attractive. anyways masturbation isnt shameful but it isnt something to talk about in public especially not in class. do you agree she shouldve been fired? i mean when she said it first people thought it was funny and a joke then the next time it was just immature and eventually it was just taken to far and it wasnt even appropriate or anything.

A perfect Circle is awesome BTW

I think sex is irrelevant here. I just don't think the comments are appropriate for a teacher.

We agree, I don't see masturbation as shameful. However, when one is young, say an 8th grader, they might thing otherwise, or at least be embrarassed about it. Having a teacher make a comment about a students potential masturbation habits is wrong. She crossed the line.

Maybe she was joking, maybe not. Point is, her comments had absolutely no relevance toward the Janet Jackson topic that was being discussed. I don't know whether she should have been fired. If making some comments was a common occurence, then absolutely! She crossed the line, t hough and I think if she wasn't fired it would certainly be something that should be looked into. She's got no business making comments like that.

As a teacher I can assure you those comments are inappropriate in the classroom. Pure and simple.

Discussion of masturbation or sexual habits is fine in the right classroom context, comments on the sexual habits of a particular pupil are not.

If this situation was a follow on from other complaints (as alluded to in your post) then yes it is reasonable for the teacher to be fired. In of itself I don't think dismissal would result, but she would certainly be in trouble and her performance monitored.

Dang it, if she was hot ould tell your brother to go for it, then after banging the teach a few times say she raped him and sue for money. Happens enough nowadays.

I've noticed since I've been out of school teachers seem to becoming less compassionate toward the children in class. I'm not saying to knock teachers. Infact most teachers that I've had in the past were great.

But, my brother is always telling how the teachers are mean and badgering toward most students in his class.

It's irritating to me how the teacher you've mentioned is acting all innocent in front of the adults. And, toward the children she is so nasty.
