It changed with the bronze, silver and gold levels of membership. Not quite your WATS score but very similar formula. Of course those levels meant nothing if you were on staff as we have to be able to see the ads to know what people were talking about when complaining about one of the ads in the rotation.

I personally enjoyed the slight reduction for oh about a week to ten days that bronze afforded me before being made a mod.

To play devil's advocate: what right do we have, as users of the site, to get detailed financial information from those that run the site? Other than not-for-profit organizations or a few other small exceptions, I'm not sure I've seen many sites provide in-depth data on cost of site overhead, advertising income, overall revenue etc.

SkepticOverlord did give the minimum cost that it takes to run the site now as is. that doesn't include any upgrades.

Skeptics post,

Right now, no one is getting any profit payments, so it's cheap.
But to revive it as a business would require a sustained revenue model to fund infrastructure and code base improvements -- even before we look to alternative revenue methods. In order to afford the necessary expenditures, which would be months-long, we'd need a minimum of $25,000/month. That's not suddenly happening with donations or subscriptions.

And... these are "friends and family" prices from talented developers I've come to know well.

We never stated such things in public, as we're a privately-held company. Such a stance is very much the normal mode of operations for private companies. Any with serious interest signs a mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement with us, and then they get all the full details they need.

I lurked for several years before joining.
What caused me to join was the sincere openness in the space, technology and UFO forums. You could post and like minds would either contribute or politely disagree with evidence to their comment. Or if totally whacked out, would expose the fraud and move along. That changed.
Do you know if the new owners would focus on the old forums, or continue with the current platform.
I enjoyed your site, and I wish you and the other "Dos Amigos" well.

ps; Before you guys go, I would enjoy reading what inspired yo and who this site got started.

As an empire crumbles, from its remains rises another.


The People will always find a place to congregate and discuss such things.

ATS was/is a great platform.

Its members cannot be silenced.

If it fails, another will take its place.



If this is the end of ATS, it's been an Honor to partake in this experiment with you.

It provided me with an outlet to express myself justly as I see fit without the risk of alienating those around me.
