Still isn’t enough to justify destroying the economy and force 40 million people out of work.

As you are about to see, the virus will destroy the economy on its own --- shutdowns or no shutdowns. Add to that a healthcare system that is overwhelmed exacerbating an already dire situation. Look at what's happening in the states with Republican Governors that acquiesced to Trump's demand that the economy be re-opened (TX, AZ, FL, GA, SC...). They're infection rates are skyrocketing. Businesses that opened are being forced to close. Further lock-downs are being seriously considered. People won't return to work if their coworkers fall ill and then the economy tanks regardless. Had we done the right thing (masks, social-distancing, actual quarantines) we would likely have gotten through this until a vaccine was widely available. But because people just don't care or are too abjectly stupid to understand what's going on, we will be dealing with this at Christmas.

How will the virus destroy the economy on its own if we end the shutdowns?

Lets be real here.. The "leadership" in many places "coincidentally" made every decision that would "coincidentally" make things worse.

As for testing.. Still havent seen too many suggest testing the blood that exists in the medical system. Its all there, waiting to release its data. It doesnt give real time feedback, but neither do the PCR tests.

We are also learning that antibody testing only gives a sliver of the picture. It can relate to the spread itself, but is only partially relevant to actual community immunity.

But no.. We gotsta force the population to comply! Its the only way to learn how this pathogen works, amirite?

I agree with you.
We are lucky that this virus was a dud.

I disagree with you om the response.
Had this been a nasty virus I don't think it would have made much difference.
Maybe just a delay.

Administration? Just stop.
You mean the CDC.

No. I most certainly mean Trump & Co. His blame-everyone-but-himself game is coming to an end. This isn't on the CDC. If the aforementioned ass-hats had LISTENED to the CDC we wouldn't be where we are. But you go on clinging to the Trump narrative. It won't make a bit of difference now.

But but but, the CDC and WHO back tracked several times, don't forget that.

Don't forget. The CDC directed the medical community to inflate the number of Covid-19 deaths.

Even with that, only 3/100th of 1% of Americans have died due to the Covid-19.

It's just a minor addition to the 7,500 (ave) daily deaths that occur in the country, every single day.

COVID-1984 is a complete and total hoax.

Democrat governors and politicians will attempt to shut the country down again before the November election.

DO NOT let them!

Is there some place where we can read what that definition is?

I don't think so.
The way china hid all the information lead to an overreaction.

Now I do buy the idea that the dems are using the pandemic for political advantage.

I dont think it would have made much of a difference either.

Some stuff I think is actually good. Non-obsessive hand washing, non-obsessive social distancing, stuff like that.

Given that pathogens also spread through the atmosphere and weather systems though.. Lockdowns are silly. Particularly when doing so does everything from reduce medical apparatus capability to destroy the economy to weaken immune systems.

Its not a bad idea to be judicious if one is "high risk," taking certain medications, and the like. But thats true in general and certainly not specific to The Virus.

Until I see the "experts" make efforts to improve general public health, which would make more of a difference than every other measure combined, Im just gonna assume they have ulterior motives. Probably involving sketchy vaccines, and increasing the populations dependency on them.

how many flu death cases were ruled the rona?

if you have the flu and the rona and you die is that a rona death or a flu death?

Michelle Obama told everyone to stay home. Protests start then they think that is cool to get out there and mix things up. It's 100% political at that point. Both stances air aimed directly to inflict political damage.

So are these people who died directly of covid? Or with covid? Or covid like symptoms? Are your numbers taking into account that some states (research Colorado) didn't even test 25% of their deaths that were reported as covid deaths?

More doom porn. Can't believe anyone would believe any numbers coming out from any organization.

I work in a town in GA that has been listed as a major hotspot. Cases have more than doubled since the end of May. The county population is around 80k with the people that live in surrounding counties another 20kish enter and leave every day. Testing didn't really get going till late May. Total cases right now are 1100 with more than half that being diagnosed in last 30 days. Hospitalizations are up. But total deaths as of right now are around 30. It concerns me but not enough to stay home. I play mask prevention theater wherever I have to including work, and make people who enter play it to. The most important thing i'm doing to protect myself is obsessive hand washing with soap. Sanitizer is better than nothing but not much better. So far the hospital is handling the increased load well, but there are major outbreaks in at least one local nursing home and the jail. I doubt we'll shut down again en mass, but I do expect individual shutdowns due to infections of smokers employees there. I'm a home body anyway, and tend to leave the house only for necessities, to do stuff with the kids, and when the wife demands it.

At first glance this looks like more ATS bad math. In all age brackets covid appears to be 3-5 times more deadly than the flu. Something along the lines of the flu pandemics of the 50s and 60s, but not Spanish. For those over 60 looks to be 5xsplus the normal flu mortality. In the 18-59 age group seems to be 1.1-1.5 times as deadly as normal flu. Under 18 and Covid is obviously much less deadly than seasonal flu. I'm off the opinion we should keep doing what we do to earn a living for our families. Wash our damn hands often and with soap, and try to be nice to each other, this will eventually end.
