I think any business should be allowed to ban or refuse service or not hire anyone for any reason. even if you don't like their race, gender or politics.

Girl i dated in high school is an "instagram model". She has about 170k followers, and she has deleted about half of her content over the last 2 months. Part of it is her grandkids, and her not wanting them to see her in images that are so highly sexualized.

It came to bite her in the butt though. She lives in the same small town we grew up in. Its not like someone wasn't going to notice eventually, and start harassing her over it.

I dunno. Seems like the Conservative "cancel culture" has always been rooted in the almighty dollar. If a public figure or company pisses them off, they boycott, but that usually only leads to liberals picking up the business and ultimately is little more than a blip. Liberal cancel culture is going after people personally, forcing firings and destroying their lives.

I dont think country fans calling for country music stations to stop playing the Dixie Chicks is comparable to haranguing the WH press secretary's family at restaurants or forcing the firing of a cop's step mother from her job because she supports the cop.

Having spent part of my childhood cleaning up chicken #, that's true but doesn't tell the whole story. The Conservative "cancel culture" is old, dried chicken#, whereas the liberal cancel culture is fresh and moist... It's much, much easier to deal with the old dried chicken#. It helps if one realizes that we're going to be forced to deal with it regardless, which we are.

They are not guaranteed the right to play football. Just like no one is guaranteed the right to post on social media.

The cancel culture is very strong now, and those in positions of power are bowing down to mob pressure at every turn.
I haven't posted, liked or re-tweeted to Twitter since 2016, and I won't either, it's too dangerous and I deleted Facebook 3 years ago. My IG is private. The 21st century lynching isn't hanging people by a rope, but getting them fired from their job and ruining their lives.

I don't understand the notion. Its the latest "direction-tard" brainless buzzword, full of built-in, raging hypocrisy disguised from the perpetrators by semantics (direction-tard meaning either "left" or "right" blind-follower zombies.)

I guess I've been "canceled" by a few lefttard and righttard twitter followers. Folks who followed me based on a pro- or anti- [person/issue/etc], and figured all of my thoughts & beliefs would line up with theirs. When they saw me tweet something that didn't agree with their programming, they expressed their horror and unfollowed me. WOE IS ME! I'VE BEEN CANCELED! But I'm just a little guy, and losing a few of my not-many followers doesn't matter to me.

Here's the thing - if they ALL stopped following me, and nobody else started, I would still be able to tweet. And talk to others. And put up signs if I want.

What does it mean that Kanye was "canceled" for his opinions? Did he lose a record contract? Are people not able to download his songs anymore? No longer (aside from Wuhan Pandemic shutdowns) allowed to attend his concerts?

JK Rowling - writers quitting her agency is the news I'm seeing when I search her name. So...individuals don't want to work with her over her personal opinion regarding the minuscule sliver of society with the massive upheaval of offense felt from both directiontards? So what? Shouldn't they work with who they want to work with?

If a country singer is vocal about her distaste for President Trump, or supports abortion and 90% of her fans refuse to listen to her music anymore, is she "canceled?" Or did those individuals make a choice based on their and her religious and/or political beliefs that they would no longer listen to music they like, because they don't like the opinions of the musician?

Even in cases where a network literally cancels a show because they believe its a sound business decision, or simply don't want to be seen as supporting a very public figure's beliefs and opinions, isn't it possible that its a business making decisions they believe to be in their best quarterly profits / long-term viability / shareholder value interests?

I just don't get it. People exercise their freedom of speech. Nothing in the constitution says people aren't going to stop watchin/listening/following, etc, you when you do so. When the nation has managed to divide itself into two large opposing groups, with just a handful of independent thinkers, large groups will backlash against things they don't like.

I remember as a kid my grandparents' generation having people on TV or radio they would switch off because of the individual's political beliefs. I feel like this is the same thing, except now people are dainty fragile flowers who go into crybaby mode because people react when they voice their opinions.

SO EFFING WHAT! Get over it! You still have independent thinkers who don't give a [poop emoji] about your political opinions, and "your half" of the directiontards. What are we supposed to do? Legislate that people have to continue supporting people who they don't like?

The crybaby stuff about "cancel culture" is one of the biggest blizzards of snowflakism I've seen in years.
