10 minutes ago, roughly. I'm not seeing news coverage yet, so I'm hoping it's a false positive, but I hope everybody is okay out there.

Any New Zealanders here who could confirm?

Edit: my app says the source is GEONET. Trying to upload a screenshot.

Apparently, the tsunami risk is being evaluated, and a warning may follow shortly.

Stay safe, everyone.

New Zealanders, I think you can probably breathe easy. Thank God.

From the NZ Civil Defense: "There is no tsunami threat to New Zealand following the M7.4 SOUTH OF THE KERMADEC ISLANDS earthquake. Based on current information, the initial assessment is that the earthquake is unlikely to have caused a tsunami that will pose a threat to New Zealand."

Edit: update, from the same source: "New Zealand coastal areas may experience strong and unusual currents and unpredictable surges at the shore." So stay away from the shores anyway, I guess.

No tsunamis, shaken and stirred but...
I didn't feel a thing was fast asleep.

Looks like they downgraded it, too.

I didn't feel it. I was asleep.
