LONDON: Mahatma Gandhi’s statue at the Parliament Square has been covered and boarded up completely to protect it from anti-racism and anti-fascism Black Lives Matter protestors, who have threatened to bring down nearly 60 statues across Britain of those historic figures who expressed racist views towards black people.

The statue of Mahatma Gandhi right outside the British Parliament is among several monuments covered and boarded up in London, ahead of another set of planned protests to condemn racism and the racist killing of African-American George Floyd.

GANDHI STATUE HIDDEN BY UK

I am an American but I wanted to post this to demonstrate that this is bigger then confederate statues here in the states. It seems this movement will go after everything.
These to me are the warning signs. First they will take down the confederate statues then they will take more and more things down that have the flimsiest tie to racism. Or they will take them down because it offends someone.

In my opinion this is not about racism it is about erasing history so who ever is the string puller of this cultural revolution can make up their own history once their objectives are complete.

Who these hidden hands may be I leave that up to you.

I don't understand this at all.

I really, really don't.

We're talking Gandhi, the skinny little Indian dude, right?

Peacefully protested?

Pushed for India's independence through nonviolence?

That Gandhi?

I'm not surprised he wants to erase history given his part in it.

Yes Sir.

That Gandhi.

The guy who thought Black people were/are subhuman and whose only disagreement with the apartheid regime was that it lumped Indian people with the Black people who he despised and thought were racially inferior to every other race on earth.

That Gandhi.

So even if this is the case do think it should be removed?

Perhaps ,perhaps, he is a puppeteer but I would imagine there are others as well.

He may be the easy target and may have strings that puppet him as well.

Uhhh, Okay.

So we avoid putting that at the top of his resume'.

I'm sure he did do one or two good things in his life.

Maybe.

Or should we just kill all people from India now because; Gandhi.

Wait til they find out Che Guevara was a racist and homophobe.

I'm hoping they all burn their t-shirts...

Preferably while still wearing them.

Remember Martin Luther King watched his friend rape a women in a hotel room and apparently was rather encouraging.

Guess we better get after those statues and start renaming some streets.

Is there a statue anywhere of anyone who did everything right?

This is just a justification for eliminating history.

No statues are safe,
This isn't about destroying racism or even history.

It's about unemployed, uneducated, angry people with nothing better to do, and no idea what to do about it.

The floggings will continue until morale improves!

History says this can go one of two ways- either they're essentially buried and forgotten, our they gain momentum and overthrow their oppressors.

Since they're uneducated and don't even know who they're mad at, I'm guessing the former.

Karl Marx.
Racist, anti-semitic, adulter and treated his illegitimate son appallingly.

Hero of the revolutionaries.

Adding...also homophobic and didn't pay his maid while complaining about low paid workers.

Not at all.

That is established fact, just something they don't put in the sanitised history books as it runs counter to the PC script that holds Gandhi up to be a paragon of virtue.

Why do you think I would support removing his statue?

Apparently he treated those who worked for him or looked after him quite appallingly too.
Not a very nice person.

I don't really care either way what they do to his statue......and no, I do not support this whitewashing and/or re-writing history that people seem to be advocating.

I do support being honest and truthful and telling the whole truth - warts and all - from an unbiased perspective.

I don't support judging the events of yesterday by the standards of today.
I do think we can learn lessons from the events of yesterday.
