The above is from Tim Black, pls klik .
At first when I heard "Defund The Police " I was like huh???
But Instead of being hasty in a rush to respond, I took the time to actually listen, and yes I've heard some idiot say we don't need police.. .(yes we do) even the most liberal/ progressive peaceful states in the world have them.

However that's not what I understand it to be, most police forces are overbugeted at the expense of other community institutions, some times a 3rd of the city of state expenses, money that could be better spent elsewhere if we are smart about it, the above Tim Black clip explained it, cops are also overburdened with stuff they are unqualified for, things like social working etc, treating crazy or desperate ppl, what is he or she likely to do given their basic training...beat or shoot them off course.
Over militarism of the police, really??? do we need all that gear on our streets, I think not.

I am on the polar opposite I believe police departments could afford to hire officers without questionable histories and better educations if they had more funding. Police who risk their lives daily make dismal wages and after this month honestly, you would have to be nuts to become one.

Thank you for actually bothering to look into it and see what people are actually arguing for with the Defund the Police movement. Too many people these days suffer from what I like to call "headline syndrome", where they only read the headline but still establish their stance/opinion without even reading the article. I call it headline syndrome but it isn't limited to news articles; it applies to a wide variety of things in life and it definitely applies to this situation. If more people took the initiative to research the movement for longer than 60 seconds the amount of people on board would surely rise.

Not really headline syndrome. Its what we have been conditioned to expect from media and the lefts jaw-dropping accusations, lies, and general asshattery. Nothing they ever come up makes an iota of sense and they care not whose lives they ruin in the process of "their imposed greater good".

The biggest reason they will be losing the house, lose more of the senate, and reelecting trump.

Why would the people who are being treated badly, or killed by police want their budgets to be cut? Wouldn't their concerns be for LEOs to re-educate, hire better people and perhaps, develop better tactics?

But I'll reiterate its not just about having good cops, they are being made to do stuff they are not trained for, a cop cannot be your social worker, or health care giver, there are other institutions, underfunded as there are, better equipped to do those jobs...call the cops when we really need them.

Because they are attaching branding that do not belong there.

I don't know, but I can tell you that our city is so understaffed that if it takes a LONG time for officers to respond. If anything, they need to hire more cops. We are getting very little service for the taxes we pay.

Perhaps because they are doing unnecessary stuff, unrelated to actual police work,.

Organizers said the Detroit protest group chose the demands that officials have authority over. They were:

What I don't get about some of you guys, is your supposed abhorrence for a police state in one instance and your support for it in another, example super surveillance in one of the criteria above, bandwidth have been used up here, on the surveillance state, but depending on who is complaining about it, battle lines are drawn I guess.

What I don't get about some of YOU guys, is your blood thirsty longing to destroy anything and everything although it doesn't belong to you, no matter who it hurts and without any sort of democratic process involved and when YOU are called out on it, your tendency to ignore and strawman any discussion because its not what YOU want. You all act like a bunch of entitled babies who didn't get any candy at the store one day.

Very good points about Detroit. I have been telling my wife all of this, how the movement quickly changes to this bloated idealistic mess. Did you also read about the two BLM groups that are now fighting over "who is the real face of the movement"? They've been at this for what? Two weeks and they're already starting to destroy themselves from the inside. In their collectivist "movement" they forgot to check their ego's.

No evictions or foreclosures. Everyone gets to stay for free! Why pay? Just stay.

More gimees. I say give them nothing. The behavior we have witnessed recently should not be rewarded in any way, aside from criminal charges.

Why wasn't this a topic last year or the year before, or the year before that?

Why are we talking about defunding police after a bad cop killed an innocent man?
