Thank you for actually bothering to look into it and see what people are actually arguing for with the Defund the Police movement. Too many people these days suffer from what I like to call "headline syndrome", where they only read the headline but still establish their stance/opinion without even reading the article. I call it headline syndrome but it isn't limited to news articles; it applies to a wide variety of things in life and it definitely applies to this situation. If more people took the initiative to research the movement for longer than 60 seconds the amount of people on board would surely rise.

Why would the people who are being treated badly, or killed by police want their budgets to be cut? Wouldn't their concerns be for LEOs to re-educate, hire better people and perhaps, develop better tactics?

The above is from Tim Black, pls klik .
At first when I heard "Defund The Police " I was like huh???
But Instead of being hasty in a rush to respond, I took the time to actually listen, and yes I've heard some idiot say we don't need police.. .(yes we do) even the most liberal/ progressive peaceful states in the world have them.
However that's not what I understand it to be, most police forces are overbugeted at the expense of other community institutions, some times a 3rd of the city of state expenses, money that could be better spent elsewhere if we are smart about it, the above Tim Black clip explained it, cops are also overburdened with stuff they are unqualified for, things like social working etc, treating crazy or desperate ppl, what is he or she likely to do given their basic training...beat or shoot them off course.
Over militarism of the police, really??? do we need all that gear on our streets, I think not.

I don't know, but I can tell you that our city is so understaffed that if it takes a LONG time for officers to respond. If anything, they need to hire more cops. We are getting very little service for the taxes we pay.
