Cash only lines everyday here, at a Walmart. And they have card only lines everyday. It’s usually in the self checkout area. Think it’s a bit of a stretch to tie it to a conspiracy as it’s been this way for a long time. It speeds the process up most of the time.

If they just put a UV light in cash drawers it would be cleaned after each transaction....maybe
New meaning of laundered money

Where you are. So where are you? What stores operate like this? Are they local mom and pops or are they larger chain stores.? If all the stores that utilize this common practice are chains, tell us which ones so we can boycott them in our areas.

Card payment is to protect the cashier not you. Pay by card the cashier touches nothing off you, but pay cash they have to handle the intake and touch the change. But that's easy to remedy, cashier wears gloves.

Aren't they plug and play? Just swap it out for another one?

Yup. County dump accepts credit cards ONLY until further notice. No cash. No checks. Just dumped two pick-up loads in the last two weeks. $55.00 a load. (Yeah, but it was a lot of stuff, 8 foot bed to the brim.)

I think I'd rather touch cash than the pin pad that 300 other people's greasy fingers were all over prior to me that day.

You oughta think about the bills that served as stripper tips. LMAO

Cash money is intensely dirty.

If you are not wearing gloves, just bring a few extra Q-tips with you and use those to punch in pin number, then throw it away.

I don't do that personally but my best friends mother in law started doing that in March..

We don't even have checkout people in our walmarts here anymore. It's all self. it's fast and I can use cash if I want.

That's what's really coming. Not a cashless society but an automated one.
After it's all automated then it will be easy to force cashless by building checkout machines that don't except cash.

My guess is that it was a broken pad and nothing more.

Truth is the only time I use cash is when I buy illegal stuff on the black market.

My sister took an elderly relative to Costco. Costco allows members to have a guest. The problem was the elderly individual needed to use their ebt. The costco employee stated that they can only accept cash from guests, even though they accept ebt for everyone else.

This seemed completely arbitrary and like a case of outright discrimination.

As others have said on here, cash is very dirty. My parents went through a Dairy Queen drive through, and they were discouraging people from paying in cash. I had a job where I had to count a lot of cash, mostly $1 bills, and I wore latex gloves. Within 15 minutes, those gloves were black, and I mean black. Totally gross. God only knows what a typical bill has on it. So no conspiracy, just extra precautions to not do more spreading of the virus.

Has anyone else encountered a devoted "cash line" because of a "broken pin pad" at their grocery stores?

Costco will take zero cash.... Maybe they have the youngest cashier at the cash line...
