One way to make China pay for the pandemic, here's how.

This isn't great for the same reason UBI isn't great.
If everyone has a set amount of free money, their time and services will simply cost that much more.
Why work hard to sell chicken for 50k a year if you're getting paid an extra 10 for fun?
Next year that chicken costs 20 percent more..

Unchecked inflation.
Free money ruins money.

Not that I don't want free money... I've got debt! As long as my income keeps up with the inflation I'm for it.

It would need tobe more like $3300 to exhaust all of the roughly $1.1T in US debt owned by China. There would be monetary effects and war to consider, which would likely costmuch more, but if they just roll over and take it, sure, why not?

If there were true justice, they would reimburse every dollar lost in this process and then some. Not because it originated in China, even if it was an accidental (read: incompetence) release from the lab, but because they buried the truth, and purposefully encouraged its spread by allowing travel out of China (but not within China), allowing it to spread worldwide.

The CCP needs tobe taught a lesson. I believe we (the entire world) need to cut them off completely, economically, for at least 20 years.

Ok so we learned a hard lesson first thing to do is get factory's up and running here in the US again by going all out we could have that up and running in as little as 5 years ( talk about creating JOBS !

Once we have that up and running Just cut out ALL imports from ALL country's for the next 20 years WILE paying off what we owe . Defalts HA if it was done right within 25 years US would owe no one .

It sure cant be done by just cutting china off cold turkey and if ITS not oves by now we need to MAKE our own stuff here then we deserve to louse it forever and mite as well fly every country's flag but our own as they all will Owen it anyway .

Should nobody require US debt anymore, seeing China and Russia trading in their own currency for oil, makes it a concern for economic stability

In a 'capitalistic world', the appetite for US bonds would be effected.
I'm not sure how flexible this IOU contract is, and how one would vary the value for a single bond holder only.

As far as I am aware, the only mechanism would be quantitative easing, or dropping the repo rate (which is near zero).
This would effect any one holding US bonds.

I think iff reparations are to e sought, they should be done in a "targeted' fashion, to avoid collateral damage..

Because all we have to go on are threads in here. And in here the minority of people calling for some form of conflict are Americans.
