SO i just saw this trailer for a game.... COD, clasic title..

looks awesome... but at the end of this on TV... it says "Rated G".. in a wonderfully smooth voice

So how does this rating system work these days? IN the covid era...

Pretty sure G meant Generally ok for anyone to watch or play... Didn't it?? but perhaps im just getting old?

Once upon a time...PG meant parental guidance.... wtf does it mean now!?

People wonder why I don't have kids... well heres a clue

I wouldn't want my child watching Barny and suddenly getting a preview of BattGore!!

Daddy... why did that mans face explode??

It doesn't have particularly graphic violence. Heads don't explode, sadly...

I was letting my kids play DOOM at 12 so maybe Im the issue? COD was normal by 10.

I thought it was kinda known everyone plays these games including kids?

I saw someone slamming his knee into the spine of someone and this killing that person in like the first 5 seconds of the video. IDK if this isnt graphic violence.

Played egoshooters too and still do not have the urge to hurt anyone. I feel I had to write this otherwise some could think I am one of these people that advocate every gamer is going to get nuts at some point.

But the keep it real, yes there is graphic violence in there, in my opinion.

You have to be pro to even pull those moves off. I've been playing Modern Warfare since October and I still can't do those moves and neither can many others.

Did you ever play Mortal Kombat? That had way more graphic violence.

Meh, as long as my child refrains from doing an animality, I'm cool with Mortal Kombat.

Tekken3, gta2, cstrike, some unreal and quake. Quake being the most graphic one I can remember. But lots of adrenaline.

I can dig gaming, it's like any other sport where you have to master hand eye coordination.

Times have changed.
No longer the 20th Century , which is ancient history now.

Good list!

I still play Counter Strike to this day. Unreal Tournament is timeless and far more gory than MW Warzone.

Oh okay, you can judge that better then with the gory. I know it is a old and repeating argument but games get more realistic.

You know the effect if you watched a grainy movie and you revisit it years later, you had much more detail interpreted into the memory than you really got from the grainy picture.

When I think of counter strike I remember edgy blocks, pixels. Could it be that todays games are so realistic that it messes with our own perception? Not advocating it is and not as an argument against realistic games, but as a fodder for thought.

Edit: I love Anno1800!!!

It doesn't matter with Warzone though. You're lucky if you can kill anyone at all.

Is Anno1800 a strategy game by any chance?

PG - Bashing someone's skull on the pavement until it explodes like a melon, and scooping out their brain

Kind of, you settle on islands, farm resources and simulate a economy. You have to be strategic, yes. Sea warfare and leveling up ships and buildings with special items like "The old captain" and such.

It is a German published game, it is not that famous but it is one of the best currently. The game has a long standing tradition, pre 2000 I think.

First Anno was 1602 but there was a earlier version with a different name.
You simulate how people lived in these centuries. 1602, 1701, 1404, 1800 and some future ones I boycotted.

Played 1602, 1404 and 1800 now. A lot of multitasking and keeping taps on. Always something to do, optimize or change.

I thought so. I think I had 1602. It was all set in the new world.

Fantastic game. Probably the best city builder I've played but I remember it started to get really difficult as time went by.

I had no idea they had made so many versions of it.

The 1800 was supposed to be the masterpiece of all series. Notice how each year adds up to 9? I was surprised by two pre-ordered and prepaid copies of the pioneer edition. Complete with the coins that the first 1000 orders got.

I did not even knew there would be a new game, one day I had to sign a package from Ubisoft and there were two collectors editions inside. I kept the second pioneer edition in honor of the one that ordered it but can not play it with me anymore.

It is buggy but many say it is the best version they ever made. The amount of love and details that went into the game is stunning. The let the community decide but I found that out after the fact.

Hehe, good observation!

Yes, the attention to detail is what made it so memorable. I will check out 1800, I have great memories of the Anno New World even if it was 16 years ago.

Ummm...yeah...this game I have a real love hate relationship with...

I’ve only managed to be the last dude standing 3 times so far...once with the five ton truck...that they took out of the game...bastards...

The game is so fast paced it’s unfunny sometimes...15 minutes from parachute drop to last man...

My Lady says there’s always a lot of swearing coming from the room when I’m playing...funny that...
Which is probably why I don’t use a mike...other than my head phone mike won’t work with my Xbox-1...

Time to upgrade I guess...

Another thing...I really hate when some snotty nosed 10 year old kicks the ass of this 60 year old man...
