Bad math?

What are the real numbers? We were told this would be a 3% death rate. No where can I find death rates anywhere near that. What does your math say? Am I doing the math wrong?

Global death rate of 3% (it's closer to 7% now) because each country and region will have its own independent mortality rate and it gets averaged out.

For the USA there are 866,105 cases and 48,809 deaths. 48,809/866,105 (then times by 100) and you get 5.6% mortality rate.

My math says it’s impossible to give any solid numbers.

You are right.

We need to know how many people caught it, to begin with. Then we need to know how many people actually died from it alone, and we don't. Everything is just wild guesses and speculation based on false information, and lies.


This is a walk in the park, compared to what will happen if the economy drops into a depression for several years, and people are unable to feed their families, without home invasions, riots in the streets, and anarchy

You got your math right with the numbers you have been given...

However, we have no actual idea how many cases there are in the USA.

We also have no idea of the actual deaths, since "car accident" and "fatal gunshot wound" and "heart attack" and "average flu" are now called "Covid Virus Deaths".

You are doing math that is technically correct, but only good enough for government work as the saying goes...

As has been stated multiple times, the denominator while correct is specious for calculating death rate becuase it is KNOWN CASES. The reality is that the actual number of infected is far higher because the vast majority of people who contract are a symptomatic.

What you are doing would be like only counting flu cases that go to the hospital.... ignoring the millions of people who get the flu and just sweat it out on the couch for a day or two watching Real Housewives.

To reiterate my point, I just saw this article.

Cuomo says random testing indicating that 21% of New Yorkers test positive for Covid antibodies. So roughly 2 million people have been exposed...

But by far the most interesting piece of information shared by Cuomo on Thursday was the outcome of a random surveillance test - the first of what's expected to be many rounds of random testing that the state will be conducting to help aid the response. Cuomo said that out of 3,000 people tested for COVID-19 antibodies, roughly 14% tested positive.

Even more alarming, that rate rose to 21.2% positive rate in NY. If that rate is confirmed via further testing, it would suggest that roughly 2 million NYC residents have been exposed to the virus.

"It changes the theories of what the death rate is," Cuomo explained. “It's preliminary data”…but there are likely more unconfirmed "at home deaths" from the virus, he sad.

Uh oh... now they are trying to walk back that death rate.
