Back on March 24th, the Center For Disease Control (CDC) put out guidelines directing all authorities who complete death certificates to list Covid-19 as the Cause of Death, or a Contributor to Death, if pre or post-mortem testing indicated the deceased had Covid-19 at the time of death.

why would a coroner - investigate a RTC [ road traffic collision ] death - with sucj obvious

Not clear on this but I personally think the government would want to diminish its
