This small piece about Shadowbanning is very insightful. This happened to me on Youtube back in 2015. I noticed it. I was most definitely p*ssed about it. I want these companies screwed to the wall for it. It is the most oppressive type of action... someone taking your voice away while letting you think that no one cares. In a sense it is even worse than flat out censorship... at least you can show that and speak up about it.

The idea of shadow ban is that you ban someone but they don't know they've been banned, because they keep posting but no one sees their content. You just sort of turn off all the features for them. So like, they still see everything, it's all there. You can like, you can favourite it, or you can, like, retweet it or whatever, but at the end of the day, no one else interacts... No one sees what you're doing. So all that data is just thrown away. So... there you have it. Exactly what I experienced... and such is the intrusive and deflating nature of this experience, that it destroys your will to bother producing any content because you KNOW that no one is going to see it. Every single creative idea I have wanted to try and do for the last 5 years has been ruined by the bullying by Google/Youtube. I'm not sure how many people really understand how oppressive it is to be trod upon by a multi national super rich corporation, especially when you are just an artist.

When you can see (and then talk about) their code and narrative manipulation, they become very afraid of you, and shut you up at all costs.
Even if I'd tried to make a big noise about this (the shadow banning), I'm pretty sure I'd have been silenced one way or another. I've had years of depression over this, and I would happily see them totally shut down and completely exposed for what they have done to me and who knows how many others. It is totally sick, and I am hoping that their day of reckoning is about to come... and not a day soon enough.
