Apologies if this has already been covered, but if so I didn't see it. It appears that the Mayor of Atlanta has proclaimed that Atlanta will not host the Republican National Convention this year.

I find this to be an interesting story. Can a mayor do this? The Governor has already signed off on the idea of Georgia hosting the convention. Also, it seems to me that the Democrats are not even planning on holding a convention. I'd imagine they're concerned about the optics of keeping all their people home and trying to host a convention on Zoom while the rest of the country just goes on about their business. These conventions are just a couple months away and it was just yesterday that I read something about how scientists are now concerned that this virus is disappearing so quickly that they're afraid that their studies on the virus are going to end up being ineffective.

It's a mad world out there right now. I don't understand how so many people still cannot see this thing as the total farce that it is.
