Between now and the end of September there are about 22 weeks. If we figure 2-3 news cycles per week, let's say 3.
66 news cycles between now and October 1st. That is how Trump is looking at it. At this point, the indictments need to be dropped more towards the end of that time frame. What we are seeing now in terms of news reports is irrelevant and Trump knows that. There will be so many narratives, story lines, fake news and breaking news meeting at the October 1st juncture that the media will be at a loss trying to manage the messaging as they normally do.
The way I see it, Trump controls the media, their just too full of themselves to realize it.

If Biden chooses a high-visibility, well-liked running mate, Voters will be voting for Biden's Vice President, not for Biden himself. If it is Michelle Obama, they will see her face when choosing the "Biden" box in the voting booth. If he wins, Michelle will be by far, the most visible of the two in the media. Barack/Michelle will (at least) helping President Biden make decisions.
