It seems a region in Iceland has now seen increased activity after being dormant for about 800 years. The last time it was active, it lasted for about
300 years. Apparently, this region consists of "five volcanic systems" that seem to work in unison. If they erupt, it could cause serious and long
lasting problems.

I don't much about such things, but if this indeed comes to pass then it will at the very least disrupt air traffic. Keflavik airport is only 15km
away, but this could obviously have wider implications.
