Goldman's chief economist and probably the person who released the virus. Ignore what they're saying, all is well.

My neighbor said we should burn them in Effigy. I don't know where that place is so I said why not burn them here in New Jersey.

Im gonna go out on a limb here and guess most of us don’t spend 10,000$ into the economy monthly. It actually sounds like you’re bragging even.

Of course this is going to be a longer recovery effort. Maybe you can go out and contribute more than most to speed up the effort?

I didn’t hear anything about that, if true it’s pretty disgusting and not something public officials should be doing.

I think the problem is our culture. We are getting hit harder than any other nation. It’s largely because Americans are extremely selfish, hate authority, and have little to no sense of social responsibility. At any rate, it’s not like “shutting down the economy is a bad choice”. It’s not a choice. It’s what happens during a pandemic. Just like during a war, for instance. No one is walking down the streets, dodging bullets and bombs, and bitching about “why did they shut down the businesses?!”. Had they not shut down our economy, our businesses would be forced to fire people left and right as they refused to come into businesses that refused to implement safe business practices in a pandemic environment.

Keep in mind, we have the oldest workforce ever “sorry grandma, you need to get to your job at Kmart, the electric bill won’t pay itself!”.

We spent how much, over the last 12 years, bailing out the businesses? “That will just incentivize businesses to not create products and to buyback stocks!!” Didn’t stop them then. Why should folk be so worried at workers getting 1/50 of the bailout business did? Oh, yeah. Because Americans only care about rich folk, not workers.

Lastly “trump has been saying we need to bring back business to the us for 3 years!” Yeah, and he lies About what he really thinks in most other situations too. If trump really wanted to bring business back to the US, he would have implemented policies to do so, not just randomly and badly attacking China. He hasn’t done a thing in that regard and less than 1% of businesses have returned. Besides, it’s not like “businesses need to return to US” is a radical genius idea. Many of us have been saying it for decades, and we’ve given plenty ways to implement it. Too bad all the folk both sides keep voting for keep doing the opposite.

Who could have predicted that trump, the republicans, the dems, and every president elected in memorable history were all completely full of #? Oh, yeah. Anyone actually paying attention.

Being that I travel for work every week and most of that comprises my average monthly spend, try doing the math. I know 40-50 people in my industry that do the same thing. If you think that's bragging you need to do a self evaluation.

Maybe you can go out and contribute more than most to speed up the effort?

Contribute with what? We're all furloughed.

But they're trying to pass a new bill that would give Americans 2,000 a month in stimululz.

Wouldn't that help the economy? Lol. This fu**ING time line sucks ass.

At this rate, the dollar will be worth less than the toilet paper no one can buy.

"hey man, how much for that gallon of milk?

"That'll be 6,000 dollars OR 3 sheets of two ply Charmin."

The best part is the same people celebrating "free" money will be the same ones bitching about muh purchasing power in a year.

We'll find some lone patsy to blame it on and act like we got screwed.

We haven't, and will never learn. RIP American experiment. It was a good run.

Even worse than socialism honestly. At least socialist countries rape everyone on taxes to provide for their inefficient BS. We've been cutting taxes and increasing spending going into this (which, for the record, I cream at the thought of less taxes, but only when it's coupled with decrease in spending). We were tits deep in debt before this.

This is like AOC got drunk and screwed an oligarch, got pregnant, and the kid came out with the worst traits from both.

Apparently an extra £10,000 has been made available by the "Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority" to all our MPs budget, in order to cover the additional expenditure of setting up remote working from home.

If they had said £1000 then fair enough, but £10,000 is kicking the arse out of it surely?

The best part, actually, is that the same folk bitching about “stopping the economy!!” Are the ones ignoring quarantine and extending that the economic freeze.

I've heard people support the UK government giving each tax payer a lump sum to be spent by a certain date but only on certain products.
Sounds similar to these 'stimulus checks'.

Please excuse my ignorance on this subject but what are these checks for and what can they be spent on?

Me, I'd give each household here in the UK £1000 but state it has to be spent before a given date and only on certain goods - not Chinese manufactured #e!

I have no idea if this is practical or if it would do any good....but it'd certainly give a lot of people a much needed lift!
And I doubt it would have much of a detrimental effect on an already screwed economy so where's the harm?
