“It does seem surprising that these tests were bought with a contract that wasn’t contingent on their usability,” Clark told the Observer. “In learning lessons through this crisis, it’s important for future contracts to recognise this risk.”

Kathy Hall, director of Covid-19 testing strategy at the Department for Health and Social Care, revealed last week that the government was working to recoup money paid for the tests “where possible”. Asked whether payment was made on the assumption that the devices worked, she said: “Our overall strategy was to secure tests in order to get them validated. That meant ordering minimum volumes in order to secure them. And we wanted to make sure we had the opportunity to do that, so that was the strategy we took, yes.”

So odd thoughts, shouldn't we be just as worried about our eyes as breathing in the virus? I seem to remember from chem warfare training that biological weapons could get in through eyes, ears, mouth, and any openings on the skin.
Could obviously be wildly off base, just a random thought as I left the commissary and some retired guy was giving the airmen at the door heck for not letting him in without a mask.

Oh my gosh that article is shocking

So really we need to find out who we bought these stupid tests (and for how much) from and why there was no clause in the contract about functionality! I cannot fathom how these fools are running the country. They either are completely stupid or they are buying these tests of their mates to syphon taxpayers money to them. I'm thinking the latter because no one is that dumb right?!

It's a respiratory virus. It can't get in via the digestive system, ears, eyes, or pores on the skin.

They call it a respiratory virus, then say it might be transmitted through the eye.
A new report published by JAMA Ophthalmology found preliminary data may suggest severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the virus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), might be transmitted through the eye.
Researchers analyzed data from 38 patients infected with COVID-19 from Hubei Province, China, and found 12 (31.6%; 95% CI, 17.5%-48.7%) individuals had ocular manifestations, including epiphora, conjunctival congestion, or chemosis.
These symptoms commonly occur in patients with severe systemic manifestations of COVID-19 and are consistent with conjunctivitis, or pink eye.

Chinese doctors were first to sound the alarm. In March, Chinese heart specialists advised the American College of Cardiology to watch for clots and said certain blood tests showing a rise in clot risk might signal which patients were in greatest danger. Other reports suggested the clots can show up all over the body. But were they a cause of deterioration or an effect?
Another skin sign of covid-19, still according to the press release, “the sudden outbreak of persisting red patches sometimes painful and mild urticaria lesions.”
With these skin lesions, the National Union of Dermatologists and Venereologists wishes to raise the alarm on contagion risks, “because these signs are not accompanied by pulmonary signs, these patients are potentially contagious and are potentially carrying and spreading the virus without knowing they are. This is a very important sign our peers should know of” dermatologists write in the press release.
A leading Australian ear, nose and throat surgeon has warned widely reported symptoms of loss of taste and smell in COVID-19 cases may linger long after some patients have recovered from the virus.
For nearly two weeks, rhinological and ENT bodies in both the UK and the US have been calling for anosmia to be added to the official lists of COVID-19 symptoms.

Coronavirus could target immune system by targeting protective cells, warn scientists
Researchers in China and the US find that the virus that causes Covid-19 can destroy the T cells that are supposed to protect the body from harmful invaders
One doctor said concern is growing in medical circles that effect could be similar to HIV
The coronavirus that causes Covid-19 could kill the powerful immune cells that are supposed to kill the virus instead, scientists have warned.
The surprise discovery, made by a team of researchers from Shanghai and New York, coincided with frontline doctors’ observation that Covid-19 could attack the human immune system and cause damages similar to that found in HIV patients.

COVID-19 May Be Transmitted Through the Eye, Report Finds

You're probably right about it not transmitting through the skin, but you may be wrong about the eye. The expert from S. Korea said what this virus needs to transmit is a mucous membrane, which is not present on the skin, so he confirmed the skin can't transmit it. He didn't mention the eye but I believe that meets his stated criterion of having a mucous membrane; this is why I mentioned goggles in part 5, that people think masks are protecting them without wearing goggles, when in fact they might need goggles for more protection.
