I've been happy to see your updates bearing good news from New Zealand, but your personal situation is far from happy. I hope that you've just got some normal seasonal flu.

Take care! Kia kaha, Kia ora!

I went to get tested today, the website said they closed at four, but when I got there just after 3pm there was a sign say they close at 3pm. So will have to wait until tomorrow. I rang ministry of health line and they said highly unlikely I have it, but noticed today I have lost my sense of smell and taste.

Here's hoping I dont have it as I work with young children, and one forced a kiss on my lips last week.

Edit : Holy Sh!t Brazil !!
India, Chile, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, are all on the up and up at the moment.

If you sort by deaths/1M pop, the number that indicates how hard a country is hit in terms of damage done (only counting death) by the corona virus, how big their corona problem is, India and Bangladesh aren't even in the top 100 yet. Pakistan is ranked 94th and Saudi Arabia 61. The only ones with a significant issue in your list are Brazil (18) and Chile (21), they're also definitely rising fairly fast (not as fast as the UK, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, France, Sweden and the USA were rising though; it's difficult to tell cause worldometers.info doesn't have a nice graph for the increase in the number for deaths/1M pop, which would be interesting if you wanted to compare how fast the USA is rising compared to Brazil and Chile, which I suspect to not be all that different, Brazil and Chile are probably a little faster because they're still a bit behind, timewise, and haven't reached their peak yet; but what happens when you overlap the same comparable timeframe, how fast was the USA rising before their peak?).

BREAKING: The Arizona health department reported 2,392 new coronavirus cases, a new daily high, and 25 additional deaths Tuesday morning.

Yes..... indeed.....2nd wave is here!!!

ktar.com...

If authorities didn’t give the first wave a chance to diminish before unlocking, then it’s not a second wave - it’s still the first wave managed by morons.

As Beijing Starts to close of neighborhoods due to an outbreak, international flights are still departing the airport.

This is terrifyingly dumb, or malevolent! It’s been shown how flights from China exported the original outbreak across the globe and its being allowed to happen all over again.

Why are nations allowing incoming flights from China, let alone Beijing at this time? I hope every destination is quarantining arrivals for 2 weeks and stop over passengers are contained in quarantine areas. But that would make too much sense and very little of the world’s reaction to Covid has made sense, so I doubt any of that is happening.

I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully, you won't have to wait long for the results after you'll be tested tomorrow.

The loss of sense of smell and taste are worrying, but are also symptoms of a heavy common cold. Has the child had symptoms, too? Is he/she being tested as well? If Test & Trace is operational where you are, could everyone connected with you and the child be isolated?

I truly hope the Ministry's advice is correct.

In bocca al lupo, as we say in Italy.

Yes, I believe every word he is saying. The only protection once we leave the house and go where people are is to wear a mask and (soon you'll be seeing ) face shields.

OK, this face shields is the newest MIM's Street Talk. Many stores are selling them now. The mask , during temperatures over 85 f is almost unbearable to wear. So the new trend will be these plastic clear shields. They are pretty cool. They cost 500 yen. Should have bought one, went back a day later and sold out.

There may be no immunity against Covid-19, new Wuhan study suggests . I kind of thought this all along. Also what happen to them children in America that had the symptoms of Kawasaki disease but was marketed as corona virus.
Anyway, here's a bit more info: Humans may never develop immunity against Covid-19
, according to new research on antibodies by Chinese and American scientists.

Their conclusion was based on a study looking at whether hospital workers in Wuhan who were directly exposed to infected patients at the early stage of the outbreak had developed antibodies. The deadly new disease was first detected in the Chinese city late last year.

At least a quarter of the more than 23,000 samples tested could have been infected with the virus at some stage, according to the scientists. But only 4 per cent had developed antibodies as of April.

Meanwhile, a separate study by a team at Tsinghua University in Beijing suggested that the more antibodies produced by Covid-19 patients, the worse the outcome – the patient with the strongest antibody response in their study died.

They pointed to a phenomenon known as antibody-dependent enhancement, in which viruses “hitch a ride” on an antibody to infect cells they could not enter otherwise.

Very good information on this post. Thanks musicismagic.

Also, I have mentioned it a couple of times, but here it is again: watch the asymptomatic positive Covid patients in the second cycle. They are basically trojan horses right now.... bringing the enemy into your communities and bodies stealthily and silently. In the 2nd cycle of this virus, their experience will be much more traumatic and physical than others.

Can you elucidate any further on that remark?

Last night news showed people at the airport trying to leave. I think Beijing has 2 airports and those airports were showing past video of being busy, but all were wearing mask, so I'm not sure how recent it was.
Beijing has block roads going into many areas and won't let people leave. Schools again have shut down, so it looks like it is serious, and govt. employees are out with their machines spraying something in the air and ground. Does not look like a complete lock down yet . This was on TV last night. I guess Americans don't get to see this stuff.

Keep in mind one thing to look out for. If your toes and finger tips shows signs of tingling, that can also be a sign of infection. I would still recommend a test if those symptoms show up.

Who thinks the US has taken the 'flatten the curve'-concept a little too literal?

That's more like flatlining.
