I would think that might # up the rubber straps.

I was told soak them in strong saline solution, let them dry and no need for changing them or re sterilizing them. The salt deactivates the virus

You beat me to the rubber straps. That is the first thing I thought of when I was reading it.

I use N52 masks daily at work. The straps break on me at least twice a month. Im fairly certain they would at least be affected by heat

You damage the masks effectiveness by doing so.
#1 The bleach degrades the fabric matrix.
# 2 The Negative Ion properties are destroyed.

The method I have suggested comes from
the patent designer of the masks.

SAAVY?

That is because they are of Sub Standard Manufacture
to begin with.
Wake up and smell the Coronaroses.
Only then will you recall
that some wild guy on ATS
tried to help all the mysterious strangers.
Once upon a time.

List of approved disinfectants for Covid19.

www.epa.gov...

Lysol Spray is on the list; be mindful of Contact Time.

Wondering about dipping in citric acid dilution and then air drying. N95 masks already have a citric acid outer layer that interferes with viruses, and the EPA recommends citric acid as a COVID19 disinfectant.

Ultraviolite light kills this virus fairly quickly. I think it is UV-C lights. Don't know where to get them but I read it does work fairly quickly. It is not hot either, shouldn't effect the mask.

It's UVC that Trump showed off in the Rose Garden as the "new" way of disinfecting masks.

*I don't suggest the average person play around with UVC.

Put the masks into a box with a lamp and turn it on for five minutes. Cheaper than getting a new mask every time. I suppose it depends on the cost of a UV-c bulb. Never mind, none are available on Amazon.

This seems like a pretty solid bit of research... And, at the very least, a good Plan B for masks.

Some have metal staples.
So, no,no on the microwave.
Also, as mentioned.
The electrostatic properties of the mask
would be compromised.
You bring up a good point however,
Microwaving certain materials does work.
Cash, for instance comes to mind.
Stay alive and well.
