Even with preventative steps TB still has an R0 around 10.

Why doesn’t TUBERCULOSIS overburden our healthcare system??
This is the leading infectious disease

Because people who aren't dumb are vaccinated for it.

Because until recently with advent of antibiotic resistant strains, it was very responsive to treatment.

And before antibiotics, they had specialized facilities built for victims of TB called a sanitarium. While sanitariums weren't exclusively for TB patients, that's who primarily wound up in them.

That doesn’t change the 1.5 million a year that die.... and the outbreak we recently had... ?????

Look through the posts here. People fear vaccination more than COVID-19. There's a lot of stupid people in America.

Latest TB figures I can find for America is 515 deaths in 2017. COVID-19 doubled that in two weeks.

Yeah most of them fear covid-19 over fear of their future being ruined due to economic turmoil and backdoors added to bill that has nothing to do with the purpose of said bill....

Life will go on, even if all of your money is invested in stocks. It sucks right now, but in a few years it'll be like it never happened. Life is much more important than money.

Probably because it's not a "Western" issue. It's rare to die of TB in rich places, and in poorer countries where TB has a strong hold, there are huge outreach programs to tackle it.

Nah, two reasons:

1. There is a working treatment if you get it.

2. Prior to the working treatment there was medical capacity in the form of sanitariums for those who had it.

For this disease as it's new, we have neither a treatment nor the capacity to deal with it. Once it has burned through the populace once, we'll have herd immunity to cover for the capacity issue.

So the fear of someone else injecting something into your body
means you're stupid?

That's precious

Yes. So does using "your" in place of "you're".

Tuberculosis isn't a problem here because most of us were vaccinated against it when we were kids. Those of us who aren't potatoes, vaccinated our children against it if we had any. None of us have any immunity, whatsoever, against COVID-19.

Sorry about the mini mistake grammar Nazi.

But a lot of people fear any injection and will fight because of that fear.

I suppose they're stupid?

Unfortunately the economy has a lot to do with happiness... if you’re evicted, your company crashes, you lose all your savings, etc....

You must have a trust fund or rich parents to not know this?

I’m middle class...... it’s a reality to me

Yes. They're stupid. If you are vaccinated against tuberculosis, you don't have to worry about tuberculosis. Years ago the deacon at our church came down with it. Nobody else in the church got it, because we were vaccinated. This was the guy who dispensed our wafers and wine at communion. Not one single case, other than his, in the whole town. Because vaccination.

I always looked at fear as a self defense mechanism as science
suggests. Thanks for the discredit to those findings Einstein.

Fear of vaccinations = stupid! Got it amigo

To be blunt. Most of the cases are in populations that do not have access to modem hospitals to overwhelm. Much less indoor plumbing and running water. They are poor, so they are not buying new cars, tablet computers, cell phones, designer clothing. So their passing has little impact on the world economy.

In other words. It’s a third world problem the first world can afford to ignore while it hoards food, toilet paper, and &itches about Internet access while being isolate in wealth 50 percent of the world’s population will never know.

And if people wouldn’t be too poor or stupid to live in densely packed virus breading grounds that cause hotspots, the Coronavirus wouldn’t be spreading like wildfire. And wouldn’t be overwhelming hospitals. Using your logic, is that false.

Most people are afraid of shots. Get them anyway. Tuberculosis and polio suck a lot worse than an owie that'll feel better in a few hours.
